had a great season for Lipscomb Academy.
Smith at the PF position is very fundamentally sound. One example of this is that she does a good job at not fouling on block attempts. She just sticks her arms straight up and alters her opponent’s shot with her size.
Smith, for a PF, is also capable of defending out on the perimeter. She moves well and does a good job at not letting her assignment maneuver into the paint easily. Smith also is a good runner in transition and a solid scorer around and in the paint. She also has a good 3-point shot in her offensive repertoire. In a game against Harpeth Hall High School last season, she made two 3-pointers.

She’s playing with a lot of confidence and has helped put the Lady Mustangs back in state consideration. This kid is a gamer who does the little things right. From knocking down shots to crashing the boards, she plays the game with a lot of energy and passion. She has taken this opportunity and raised her level of play, becoming a kid you can’t take lightly. She’s going to leave her mark on the game, and that could be on either end of the court. She plays with poise, picks her spots to exploit, and really owns the moment each possession. She is a heady ball player who is going to give you everything she has and then some. Keep an eye on this talented kid as she continues to grow into a viable option for the Lady Mustangs program.

put together a solid freshman season at Lipscomb Academy.
A couple of things she displayed in her first year of high school hoops is her rebounding ability and her three-point shot. Smith makes her jumper essentially unblockable when she decides to let one go from distance. She has both a high release point and high arc on her shot. As time goes on in her career her jumper will become more reliable and a huge weapon on the court. Smith is also a great rebounder. She knows how to position herself in the best spots in order to come up with boards for her team.
A game last year that showed off both the mentioned skills of Smith was when she played at Goopasture Christian High School. In the game, she had two threes, a total of 10 points, and eight rebounds.

I am super excited about this young lady. She has earned her way towards obtaining significant playing time, and you better believe she is going to embrace the moment. Lane is a hardworking kid who is going to give it all she has. She can play with her back to the basket, but also stretch the floor and knock down the 3-ball. She is scrappy; she will be on the boards, diving for loose balls, and defending like crazy. She will bring the physicality for the Lady Mustangs program, also bringing tons of energy and effort to the floor. She’s about to have a breakthrough year and be someone who can do the dirty work as well as score buckets when called upon.

She is getting her opportunity to carve out her role and get some valuable minutes. This young lady has been working on her game, and it is starting to show. Lane can stretch the floor and pull from deep; however, her ability to rebound and work inside has really stood out. This young lady will be the one who will excel at doing the dirty work for the Lady Mustangs. From doing things in the screen action, rebounding, etc, this kid will be the next young stallion to step up for this program. This opportunity will be exciting for her, and she will be ready to help this ball club contend.

Solid two-way player who isn’t afraid to do the dirty things. She is great in the screen game, where she knows how to utilize her body to get in favorable positions to receive the ball and finish. She can post up down low or disengage and knock down the mid-range jumper. She has added the outside game to her repertoire, which enables her to also be aggressive and put the ball on the floor to get to the lane. She rebounds, gets steals, and overall is a solid teammate. Look for her to thrive even more as she will see her minutes increase this upcoming season. Solid ballplayer that will contribute to the Lady Mustangs’ deep tournament run.

This kid has been in the gym working on her craft and she is ready to explode this travel ball season. This stretch 4 can work along the perimeter, but also compete in the painted area where she uses a bevy of back to the basket moves to get to the rim. She is a physical worker on the defensive end, establishing her presence as well as gaining rebounds for her club. Look for her to kick it up a notch and come back to the Lipscomb Academy program an even bigger contributing threat.

Call it what you want, but I will just call it “bully ball.” Lane knows how to muscle through the opposition. She can stretch the floor if need be, finish around the rim solidly, be used in the pick and pop action, and rebound like crazy. The more opportunities she gets, the more comfortable she will be. Keep tabs on this young lady as she continues to grow into a solid prospect.
