Every year from August to October, the “void” on the basketball calendar is filled by showcase events that bridge the gap between the conclusion of the grassroots campaign and the beginning of the high school girls regular season.

One of those events is the Southeast Elite Showcase. It held its Session Two this past weekend in the Midlands at Ben Lippen School whose Falcons compete in the SCISA ranks as a 4A team.

We at Prep Girls Hoops were on hand for this past Saturday's festivities. We conclude our coverage of the weekend it was by spotlighting seventh and eighth graders that proved they can hold their own – and then some – against competition that has spent more time at the high school level.

SCISA 4A combatant Ben Lippen has a pair of youngsters that has the Falcons well-positioned as a team of the future. Summons is one of those youngsters as a 2030 and delivers a noteworthy height advantage at 5-foot-11. She greatly bolsters a team's rebounding efforts and can move very quickly with the ball with how efficiently she runs the floor. That efficient floor running and rim attacking will lead to plenty of strong finishes at the cup. In her seventh-grade season last year with Ben Lippen, Summons led the team in rebounding and blocked shots and was second among 2024-25 Falcons in scoring.

When Lady Team Unleashed South Carolina made a few appearances on the Prep Girls Hoops Circuit, Belk was one of the names who made an imprint on said circuit – including making the 13U First Team at the Triumph Region Finals. Belk currently plays in the middle school ranks at Denton MS which is a feeder for 4A Richland Northeast. Belk is a combo guard that places a great deal of emphasis on taking care of the ball and finishing strong at the cup. Rebounding and putting her teammates in position to make plays are other strong elements to her game.

Adams was also part of that Team Unleashed South Carolina assembling that made an appearance on the Prep Girls Hoops Circuit. With her shooting capabilities, one can see why Adams can be in a starting five as a two guard. With her ability to find her way past defenses and attack the basket, one can see why Adams would be in a starting five at the point. Adams knows how to turn defense into offense as she can really make things difficult for an opposing ball carrier then take advantage of a slight miscue to go the other way for a two-point transition layup.

When seeing Gipson play and discovering that she is a 2031, one must think that is a typo. Gipson is indeed a seventh grader who has more than proven she belongs on the same court with more experienced competition. Gipson is an efficient floor runner who showcases plenty of speed and agility when she has the ball in her hands. She will deliver strong finishes at the rim and some of those finishes can result in old-fashioned 3-point tries. Gipson will call for the ball when she is confident in her ability to make play which is virtually anytime her sneakers are screeching against the hardwood.
