Airport Showcase: Evening Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>On Monday, I journeyed southbound down I-275 to attend the 12th annual Airport Basketball Showcase Event in Carleton. This showcase provides a great opportunity for me to evaluate downriver prospects, while also giving new high school teams Prep Girls Hoops coverage. With games from 10 AM to 7:30 PM, there were plenty of games to watch throughout the day. The event was very well organized and operated by the host. The evening games saw South Lyon East defeat Woodhaven 69-47, and Airport defeat Bedford 51-33. She scanned the floor, penetrated off the dribble, and dished out some great passes to open teammates for assists. She used a variety of pocket, pushout, and crossover dribble combinations to create driving lanes. Sienna dropped in runners over defenders and had an excellent floater game. She keeps her feet balanced and ready to shoot. Sienna drilled a filthy straightaway three off a crossover and a mid-range jumper. She sees the floor, plays hard, finishes at the rim, and has an accurate perimeter jumper. Riley ripped the net with a confident corner three and added another no-doubter from the slot. She crashed the glass to secure an offensive rebound and scored the putback. Riley converted a smooth left-handed layup and threw a long pass on a rope in transition for the assist. She looks very confident and comfortable with her new squad. Mack pushed the tempo with her dribble in transition, scanned the court, and distributed pinpoint passes to open teammates. She buried a smooth corner three off the hop and added another confident triple from the wing. Mack's poised presence at point guard, shifty dribble penetration, defensive awareness, and perimeter shooting are making a huge impact for the Cougars this season. She made the opponent pay for giving her space at the Airport Showcase. Kaitlyn found open space in the zone, caught passes with her feet balanced, and followed through with confidence on her shots. She buried two big straightaway threes for the Jets and crashed the glass to secure rebounds. Peyton was fouled hard after grabbing an offensive board and refused to leave the game. She fought through the pain and knocked down a free throw. Peyton made a great dump-off pass to a cutter for an assist and converted two more free throws. She turned in a complete effort for the Jets with nine points, seven rebounds, and three assists in the win.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- /wp:acf/evaluation-block -->
