We see them in the headlines and get to know their skills and accomplishments. There are some guards in this grade that may not have had that same press yet, but certainly deserve it. Below are a few of the guards in the class of 2020 that fans and coaches should get to know. All of the players listed have the potential to play at the next level.
Teagan Haynes Teagan Haynes 5'8" | PG Michigan City | 2020 State MI (Junior, Point Guard, Michigan Center)
Haynes is an elite defender who is always willing and able to guard the opponents top offensive threat. She can pick up and guard full court, as well as defend the perimeter in a half court game.
Taylor Heaton Taylor Heaton 5'10" | PG Clarkston | 2020 State MI (Junior, Shooting Guard, Clarkston)
Heaton is very efficient on the offensive end, recognizing good shots and the right pass. She has a reputation for taking and making big buckets. Heaton plays with great poise in critical moments.
Angela Savaya (Junior, Guard, Bloomfield Hills)
The Bloomfield Hills High School squad will count on Savaya to be a leader on the court and in the locker room. She is a skilled guard who plays both ends of the floor. Her well rounded game allows her to score and defend, both at a high level.
Rachel Waranauckas (Junior, Guard, South Lyon East)
Waranauckas will bring athleticism to the South Lyon East roster. She’s a fast player who can get up and down the court quickly. Waranauckas has quick feet on the defensive end. She has a ton of potential as a prospect.
Olivia Warren Olivia Warren CG Walled Lake Westeen | 2020 State MI (Junior, Point Guard, Walled Lake Western)
Warren is an excellent on ball defender. She plays with discipline on the defensive end and is rarely caught out of position. Warren is a solid floor general for Walled Lake Western.
