About Emma
Expert Analysis
Alyx White | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Barnett is Mercy’s big outside shooting threat. She’s dangerous from deep because she’s long and has a quick release, so she doesn’t need much time or space to get her shot off over defenders. She’s shooting 41.7% from 3 on the season and averages 2.3 made 3’s per game. Barnett also has the ability to score inside the perimeter via jump shots, floaters, and layups. She’s averaging 9.7 PPG and 3.9 RPG. Barnett can use her length defensively to alter shots or disrupt the offense as well.

Emma committed to play basketball at Ohio University, it didn’t take long for Emma to get eyes on her with so much talent she brings to the floor. Her ability to shoot the rock from the outside is incredible, a very smooth shot and consistent shooting from anywhere on the floor. She was face-guarded in the second game she translated her shooting game to getting her teammates open using screens. Excellent player who will continue to shine at the next level.

After the recent announcement of her commitment to play for Ohio next season, Barnett is back and poised for a big season. I would like to talk with her for a bit when I see her next about how they intend to use her talents with the Bobcats. I have been talking about her value as a Stretch player that can also play in the Interior on both ends of the court since the first time I saw her. rnAveraging 11.1 points and 6.1 rebounds last season and shooting 33.9% from three-point range while having the length needed to get your shot off over just about any defender tends to draw college coaches like flies. When that player can also Block shots and play solid defense inside and out, projecting her as a player on the next level is a no brainer. Knowing she puts up those kinds of numbers while playing with a fairly talented frontcourt teammate (cough, scroll up) makes those numbers even more impressive.
