Making a heavy splash on the rankings, Murray has the skill set of a high-tier guard and checks every box a college program needs to extend an offer. She is aggressive, athletic, and has no sense of backing down in the way she approaches each possession. Any questions about size go out the window when you watch her play. An interesting prospect to keep track of.

Murray is a major hustle two-way player who gives every play her all. She confidently pulled up from three – especially when she got to her favorite spots on the floor – and proved she could finish with either hand around the basket. A difficult 360 spin move into a clean finish was one of her better plays of the day. Murray also impressed on defense where she came up with several deflections and frustrated opponents with her energy and effort. One area of development is ensuring she doesn’t dribble herself into a corner, but her offensive skill-set and motor on defense consistently popped.

Another great reason why I enjoy these Expos is coming across talent like Murray. She has a great understanding of the game and plays with a certain pace. She keeps her head up and her eyes up, which lets her control the flow of the game. She has a different gear to her as well and knows when to use it. From a scoring standpoint, she can get to the rim just as well as she can stretch the floor.

This was my first opportunity to see Lainey play live, and the guard gave me plenty to take note of during the 5-on-5 action at the Grand Valley Elite Camp. She showed good change of direction and tight ball-handling skills while also knocking down shots from beyond the arc. Lainey made a nice pass ahead in transition and consistently ran the floor hard, turning that effort into several easy scoring opportunities. Her ability to handle the ball, stretch the floor, and create plays in transition made for a strong first look.
