In this article I just wanted to talk about who are some top teams as we head into the end of January and move closer to state tournament time. Here we will be doing 2A.

Prosser HS: Current Record: 15-3

Prosser is a team that's led by a top 10 player in her class in [player_tooltip player_id='928852' first='Herbie' last='Wright']. She stands 5'10” and just dominates on the court. She scores from all 3 levels, knowing how to attack the defense and get easy buckets for her teammates or herself. They lost a non-conference game early in the season to Chiawana who has yet to lose a game and also dropped a game during holiday break when traveling to play against new levels of competition. The one game they wish they could get back is the Selah game early January that they had dropped by just 4 points. That was a conference game and could end up with huge implications but with another matchup looming February 3rd, they'll just need to win that to secure a regular season conferee title.

WF West HS: Current Record: 13-4

WF West has yet to drop a conference game, winning all six up to the point of me writing this article. They took 2 early losses in the season to Clarkson and Selah before losing 2 more games during the holiday break when traveling to play against new competition. Since the year turned over, they have been a different squad. They have yet to lose a game and honestly, no one has came close to beating them. They should win out to finish this season and will try to prepare for higher level 3A competition during the postseason. [player_tooltip player_id='751208' first='Dilyn' last='Boeck'] is a great leader on the court for her team, patiently waiting to pick apart the defense to get a bucket for herself or set up a teammate for an easy bucket. [player_tooltip player_id='730365' first='Joy' last='Cushman'] and Caroline Buzzard are some other impactful players for this team looking to make a deep run.

Deer Park HS: Current Record: 14-1

Deer Park was a 2A favorite coming into this season, given their great season last year and a lot of their top talent returning. [player_tooltip player_id='580528' first='Jacey' last='Boesel'] has continued to show why she's at least a Division 2 level player, dominating each night out and scoring in a variety of ways. [player_tooltip player_id='663650' first='Emma' last='Bryant'] is another senior who can lead this team. [player_tooltip player_id='928125' first='Ashlan' last='Bryant'] may be their best overall player, someone who can score and shoot the ball lights out. She plays great defense and knows how to get her teammates involved smoothly. They have win great wins against Selah and Clarkston with another matchup of Clarkston coming in the near future. This team is talented from top to bottom and is ready for a deep run.

Lynden HS: Current Record: 16-0

This team is always the favorites in the 2A class and nothing has changed this year. They have 2 stars in [player_tooltip player_id='676258' first='Finley' last='Parcher'] and [player_tooltip player_id='584239' first='Payton' last='Mills'], both of which who will be D1 players in the future with Mills headed to Hawaii after this season. Parcher has yet to not finish off the season with a state title, going for her 3rd in a row this season. [player_tooltip player_id='895545' first='Lexi' last='Hermanutz'] has been stepping up big for the Lions when a shot is needed to be made. They have yet to drop a game, in fact, only 2 of their games being them winning by under 20. Kings played them the best but the Lions survived. They have a matchup in the future against crosstown rival and 1A favorites Lynden Christian, which could end up as the game of the year. In my personal opinion, I don't think the Lions lose a game this whole season.

Squalicum HS: Current Record: 13-3

Squalicum has done a great job this season at building where they finished last year. They are having their programs best season on the girls side ever and are led by [player_tooltip player_id='1238673' first='Lexi' last='Robbins'], [player_tooltip player_id='830793' first='Addison' last='Kettman'], [player_tooltip player_id='1556361' first='Colee' last='Harper'], and [player_tooltip player_id='751234' first='Tiana' last='Thompson']. All players contribute something to the court but Lexi is going a great job at leading her team in not only scoring but also getting them involved smoothly at a high level. They have yet to really compete with the likes of Lynden and Lynden Christian, but they have put up a fight against every other NWC program. They have wins against Lakewood, Mount Vernon, and Sedro Woolley with a close loss (4points) to Lynden Christian. The Storm could surprise everyone and make a nice run at the state tournament.
