Class 2A is loaded this year. In just about every super sectional, there seems to be at least 3-4 teams I could see winning it. It will be a tough path to state through 2A this postseason

The first team is the Nashville Hornets. They are no strangers to deep runs, making it through to state each of the last two years ( winning last year ). This year they currently hold a 27-2 record and a number 1 state ranking. They are my clear favorite to reach state for a third straight season this year.

The first of Nashville's sister duo, Samantha is a player to keep your eye on this postseason. Brinkman can score at will, and there is little she can't do offensively. Defensively she uses her length and size to create turnovers. Samantha is a leader for the Hornets and will be crucial to their success.

Summer is a do it all girl for the Hornets. She can score, and is physical around the rim. Brinkmann does a great job getting after it on the boards, creating plenty of extra chances. She is a matchup problem for any team they play and will be one to watch during their post season run.

The second team to watch are the Chicago Hope Academy Eagles. They stand at 21-7 right now with a number 1 seed in their sub sectional as well. Hope will be a tough team to beat, and look to make a run down to ISU this season.

Davis is an very good junior guard for Chicago Hope. She features quick hands, and great anticipation to create steals. However, Davis doesn't stop there as she is efficient and fast on the offensive end. She can take it hard to the hoop, and uses her athleticism well. Between her tough defense and her offensive skills, Davis will be a tough matchup for any team this post season.

The third team is Byron out of the Wilmington super sectional. The tigers are at 24-2 right now, and number 4 in class 2A. It will be a battle for them as they have to get through teams like Winnebago, Stillman Valley, Riverdale, and Alleman just to get out of the sectional. Byron is built for the tough challenge.

Groharing can score at will and is extremely tough to slow down. She will be the biggest factor in Byron navigating through their tough sectional. Macy plays well within the game and doesn't seem to press too much. She is one to watch during regionals.

My sleeper team in 2A comes from the Pleasant Plains Super as well and that's Illinois Valley Central. The Ghost sit at 25-5 right now, and received a 2 seed in their sub sectional. IVC has played a tough schedule and picked up some big wins along the way. I wouldn't be shocked if they make a run deep into the post season.

Nelton, the 5'9 sophomore is an exciting prospect for a young IVC team. She can score at all 3 levels on offense and isn't easy to stop. Nelton is a high level shooter that will only keep improving. College coaches will want to keep their eyes on her over the next two years.
