In one of the best early region tournament games in the state, [player_tooltip player_id='1188081' first='Sazy' last='Cantrell'] hit a walk off three with 1.2 seconds left to win the game for PCA in an early upset in A D1. Cantrell was effective all game, along with sophomore post prospect [player_tooltip player_id='1756360' first='Akudo' last='Ojeme'] for Providence Christian. [player_tooltip player_id='904635' first='Janakate' last='Gibson'], who was playing on one leg with a high ankle sprain, did all she could offensively to keep the Lady Leopards in it before losing on the game winner. Banks got good performances from several other players as well.

Cantrell played really well in a game I saw against number one seed Rabun County earlier in the season and she picked right back up where she left off in this game. Sazy has great size at six feet playing the point guard position which allows her to take and make shots as well as passes over undersized defenders comfortably. Cantrell is very effective off the catch and shoot, but is also very skilled taking her defender on which happens a lot in PCA's offense. She does an excellent job dictating the pace of the game with the ball. Sazy caught the ball on a sideline out of bounds play with 1.2 seconds left in a tie game. She caught the ball, squared up about 3 feet behind the three point line, and let it fly with the shot going off the glass and through the net as time expired. The Lady Storm, led by Cantrell, could be a very dangerous opponent for teams the rest of the postseason.

Ojeme was born with the height, length and athleticism that are about perfect for a girls basketball player. Standing 6'2 with a long wingspan, the Austrian's ability to explode quickly off the floor is hard to miss on the court. Her skills have developed dramatically since I saw PCA in November. Audi looked very confident this game snatching offensive rebounds, keeping the ball high, and finishing quickly with a put back at the rim. the southpaw was a target in the post on offense where she looked much more comfortable operating with the ball than she did a few months ago. Ojeme had a couple more eye catching blocks and rebounded the ball very well again. She is a player whose recruiting could skyrocket over the next two years.

Gibson was hampered by a high ankle sprain from the previous game, but still was Banks' biggest threat to score on offense. Gibson is tall and strong and handles the ball very well. On one of the first possessions she blew by her defender, got into the paint with two other Providence players waiting in help defense and Janakate was able to go up and around them and score off the glass. Gibson made several threes for Banks as well as getting to the free throw and converting her shots there. Gibson has the size and offensive ability to be a division one player in college. I expect her recruitment to pick up before her senior season.

Marleigh is a player I have been impressed by for a long time. She is a very accomplished track star and a state champion thrower. She is tall and strong and does about as good a job as any post in Georgia using that to her advantage. Dale moves very well for her size and is the vocal leader of her team. She stayed positive and encouraged her teammates throughout a very tense, back and forth game. Dale has soft hands and nice touch around the rim making her a serious threat in the post for Banks. Dale is not afraid of contact and does a really nice job drawing fouls and getting to the free throw line where she shoots the ball well.

Grier gave Banks great contributions coming off the bench, often to give Dale a breather, in a lot of ways. Grier battled hard on the boards grabbing rebounds against the two six footers from Providence inside. She did an excellent job at the high post on offense against Providence, where she moved the ball quickly whipping passes to the wings and down low to Dale when she was open. Grier is a competitor who just wants to win and was on the floor battling for loose balls several times. She has a nice skill set on offense and can put the ball in the basket when her team needs it. The freshman looks set to have a very solid career at Banks.
