As Director Dan Gates looked at the potential roster of 2024 players he decided to take a run at putting this together during the Covid shut down. Things came together maybe better than can be expected and now this team is out getting started this weekend. The following is a look at the roster:
- #0 Reaghan Benjamin Reaghan Benjamin 6'0" | C Parke Heritage | 2024 IN is a 6’0 2024 Post from Riverton Park, In. Reaghan is a big strong post that brings a very aggressive nature to the game. She is athletic for the position and has a very good touch inside.
- #11 Maria Zane is a 5’6 2024 Guard from Robinson. Marissa is a natural scorer that can get the ball in the basket in many different ways. She has a long torso and arms for her height, hopefully showing there are a few more inches coming. Marissa can score off the dribble and has a nice outside shot.
- #14 Addison Shrader is a 5’8 2024 Wing from Charleston. Addi is a very athletic wing with huge potential as her skills grow to match her natural athletic ability. She is a good slasher where she uses her quickness to get by her defender and then her length and skill to finish in traffic. Addi is a natural 3/4 that will find her way into the right position as her growth levels out.
- #15 Kenzie Hales is a 5’11 2024 Forward from Tri County. Kenzie is a long and thin athletic 4/5 that has shown very good post moves. She has a nice touch around the rim. As she develops her strength and outside shot Kenzie will be a very nice contributor for a good Tri County program.
- #20 Claire Seal is a 5’8 2024 Wing from Mahomet. Claire is a very well trained player, she can do many things for a team. She is a coaches daughter and is very smart about the game. Claire plays very good defense and can finish through contact in the lane to help the team on both ends.
- #21 Addi Ray is a 5’7 2024 Guard from Tolono. Addie has decent size for her position at this young of an age. She is a natural scorer that can hit the 3-point shot with a consistent stroke. Addi is a good weapon to have on a talented team like this because she can contribute in many ways but will have those games where her opportunities are there and the 3-point stroke will be a weapon.
- #22 Jilyan Burgener is a 5’8 2024 Guard from Central A&M. Jilyan has the size and the skill to compete with high level players in AAU or Varsity level school ball. She if left handed and can shoot the ball on all 3 levels. Jilyan brings the strength and aggressive style that allows her to be able to get down hill on drives and compete on the boards. She has a high ceiling that her work ethic will help her reach. Jilyan is an excellent passer that allows her to blend in well with a new team of talented players as she does not have to score to help the team.
- #23 Gracie Eaton is a 5’7 2024 Guard from Neoga. Gracie is a strong guard that uses her physical abilities to be effective on defense and going to the basket. She is very aggressive and will fight for the ball and not back down. Gracie gets the most praise from the coaches for her great attitude of being a team player and always trying to improve.
- #24 Grace Nelson is 5’7 2024 Point Guard from Altamont. Grace is a high level athlete that can really run and jump. This helps her be a top level defender and also push the ball very well in a up tempo game. Grace can get to the lane off the bounce and also makes great reads on back cuts to get open layups.
- #30 Alexia Zane is a 5’6 2024 Point Guard from Robinson. Alexia is the ball handler and defender of the twins. Alexia also has that nice length that she uses well on both ends of the floor.Defensively she does a good job on the ball causing problems for the opposing point guards to see where they want to throw the ball by being active with her length.
- #33 Lulu Koehler is a 5’9 2024 Forward from Clay City, In. Lulu is a long and lanky athlete that can play both inside and outside. She is very fast and can jump well which allows her to rebound well. Lulu uses her athletic abilities to really be effective in a fast paced full court game.
- #34 Denver Anderson is a 5’11 2024 Forward from Mt Zion. Denver is a long and skilled player that has spent time in the post because of her height but has the wing skills to take her game away from the lane. She has a nice 3-point shot that she can hit and is’t afraid to take. Denver has good instincts for the game and does a good job of passing the ball up the floor on the outlet after a rebound.
The girls got out of the gates with a 2-2 record at their first event but I think the group will come together to be a very good defensive team. That will keep them in games and I think they will end up being very successful as a group.
