Continue ReadingI was able to see games both in person and via Baller TV past two weeks, which was AWESOME. The following is a list of some of the top 2022 players that I saw. These girls are working hard to impress the college coaches and prepare for their Junior campaign at their high school. The list includes players from Illinois, but also Missouri and Indiana.
- Anna Blank Anna Blank 6'0" | CG Olney | 2022 State IL is a 6’0 ft point guard from Olney/Richland County and the Indiana Elite Havoc 2022 team. She continues to impress with her size and point guard skills. Anna is strong enough to handle any pressure and physical play. I love watching her direct traffic and lead players to the right cut or play so she can feed them for an easy basket.Anna can help with the scoring load when needed, as she did the first weekend, but is more than comfortable just running the team and setting up others, as she did the second weekend.
- Zoe Stewart Zoe Stewart 5'8" | CG Terre Haute North Vigo | 2022 State IN is a 5’9 Guard from and the Indiana Elite Havoc 2022 team. Zoe really excels at getting past her defender and finding scoring options. Most players today really only look to score behind the arc or at the rim. Zoe looks to score on the pull up jumper in the mid range and has made it a consistent weapon. She is very athletic and uses this to execute this shot because she can rise up and shoot over anyone that can manage to stay with her and challenge the shot.
- Sydney Harris Sydney Harris 6'0" | SG Edwardsville | 2022 State IL a 6’0 Wing from Edwardsville and the Midwest Elite 16U EYBL team. Sydney continues to show that she has weapons in her arsenal to score the ball. Clearly the talent and athleticism playing high level AAU ball is a bit different than a high school game. There is just simply more talent. I believe this a great experience for Sydney as she prepares her game for the college level. Sydney shows an ability to go en fuego from the 3-point line along with some impressive up and under moves in the mid post area.
- Brooke Highmark Brooke Highmark 5'8" | PG Westminster | 2022 State MO is a 5’8 Guard from Westminster Academy and the Blue Star Silvey 16U team. Brooke can run the point well but also excels as a scoring point guard. She is most effective with the ball in her hands and using hesitation dribbles to create space. Brooke is excellent at changing her pace to get past defenders. She was a 36% 3-point shooter in high school so she can shoot it and will finish with either hand in the lane. Brooke is a top level player that D1 schools should be watching.
- Carlie Vick Carlie Vick 6'2" | C Westminster | 2022 State MO is a 6’2 Post from Westminster Academy and the Blue Star Silvey 16U team. Carlie is a post player that has some length and size that play well for the position. She averaged 7 points per game and 7 rebounds per game last year in high school and shows improvement each year in her post game. Carlie has nice touch around the rim and can protect the paint on defense. She averaged almost 3 blocks per game as a sophomore.
- Ally Fitzgerald is a 6’2 Post from Marquette is St Louis and Blue Star Silvey 16U team. Ally has long arms and uses her frame very well on the defensive side of the floor where she is a top level rim protector. She averaged 4 blocks per game during the high school season. You can see her using her anticipation and lateral movement to prepare herself in help side to get the blocks. Ally averaged 9 points per game and just under 8 rebounds last year and along with Vick, has already garnered a few offers and more phone calls to Coach Silvey from D1 teams.
- Jillian Hamilton Jillian Hamilton 5'11" | SF Pana | 2022 State IL is a 5’11 Forward from Pana and the Indiana Elite Havoc 2022 team. Jillian is in her first season running with this team and you could see a level of uncertainty in the way she played the first weekend. But, with a key player on vacation the second week she stepped up. She can really take advantage of slower players when playing as a stretch 4 as she can hit the outside shot and get by her defender. Jillian is strong and not afraid to grind and push but is also deceptively athletic. She gave the crowd a few highlight reel blocked shots coming from the help side and rising up behind the main defender to erase the scoring opportunity. Jillian is still developing and has big upside.
- Mallory Ramage Mallory Ramage 5'11" | CG Mattoon | 2022 State IL is a 5’9 Guard from Mattoon and the Indiana Elite Havoc 2022 team. Mallory was only able to play the first weekend but showed the elite scoring game that she has during that weekend. She does such a good job of getting into the lane and finishing with the pull up or at the rim. Mallory averaged 18 points per game that weekend to lead the team. She is a good 3-point shooter and also passes well and defends well. Her length can cause issues for smaller guards when she gets them to pick up their dribble or is in a trapping scenario.
I will be putting out a part two in the next 24 hours or so, but I wanted to start here. These girls are all D1 prospects to watch. All but one has already been pursued by D1 schools. Most have an offer or offers by D1 schools. These are high level players that continue to work on their game and are showing improvement and making a huge impact with their team in the first two weeks of AAU summer ball.
