PGH MI Expo: Team 11 Evaluations

The 2026 Expo was loaded with talent as 100+ prospects took the court in front of PGH scouts and college coaches representing D2, D3, NAIA, NCCAA, and JUCO programs. Our format included 4 hours of games split up into predetermined 3v3 and 5v5 matchups. Every participant is featured in our post-event articles, which is a unique and special feature of the Prep Girls Hoops showcases. Social media coverage, post-event evaluations, and a great presence of college coaches in the gym to watch many of the girls who will one day help their programs are elements that make this a special annual experience. Girls had the opportunity to be coached by different college coaches during games and competed alongside great high school talent. My coverage focused primarily on teams 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, and 12. Here is a snapshot of what I observed from players competing on Team 11 at the showcase:    Samiyah made a multidimensional impact in games for Team 11 at the PGH Michigan Expo. She shuffled her feet quickly to apply good ball pressure on defense and stopped dribble penetration. Samiyah boxed out with textbook technique, sprinted after 50/50 balls, and showed her ability to finish from difficult angles, converting an acrobatic layup. She's a quick guard who works hard to make a difference on both ends of the court.     Addie competes with a high motor. She makes good plays and reads with the ball in her hands. Addie used crafty footwork in the lane to create the space she needed, then scored a nice stretch finish with her left. She pushed the ball up the floor with both hands in transition after securing defensive rebounds and drove hard to the basket to cause fouls. Addie has an extra gear off the dribble, and her tight handles create space from defenders. She's an effective facilitator and knocks down shots from beyond the arc. Addie works hard on defense to keep the ball contained and moves her feet quickly. She had a solid day at the PGH Michigan Expo for Team 11 and will be an excellent addition to a college program.     Brooklyn handles the ball comfortably with her right and left and keeps her eyes up to find open passing targets. She has the ability to attack open gaps and finish around the basket, or give the team a threat with her perimeter shooting. Brooklyn's a scrappy on ball defender and competed hard for Team 11 at the PGH Michigan Expo.     Sophie was an unstoppable force for Team 11 at the PGH Michigan Expo. She slashed and scored at will, muscling her way to the cup and finishing efficiently with strength at the rim. Sophie demonstrated excellent ball-handling control, a variety of dribble combo moves, crafty footwork in the lane, body control, and a soft touch in traffic. Here are a few highlights from her outstanding day: quick crossover drive-by-finish, pocket dribble hard drive fouled, aggressive take, absorbs the contact and finishes, splits the gap drive-by and-one finish to close out the game. She crashed the boards to secure the rebound and scored the putback. Sophie took the ball to the basket like a running back on a hard drive, then scored through contact for an and-one layup. She used her shoulder to create space on a drive and finished strong off two feet. Sophie side-stepped the final defender in the lane, scored on the opposite side of the rim, and showed off her hops by climbing an invisible ladder to score a contested bucket in the lane. She used a pocket dribble to get a defender off balance, switched gears with a quick crossover, then said see ya later, dropping in a soft floater in the lane. Sophie has athleticism, quickness, aggressive instincts, and dynamic abilities as a slasher that translate directly to the next level. In the biggest moment, she delivered a memorable performance in front of college coaches and PGH scouts.     There's something to be said about just making the right plays, playing unselfish basketball, and competing hard to make an all-around impact for your team. Ava was that player for Team 11 at the PGH Michigan Expo. She worked hard to get into position for offensive rebounds and went up strong to score a putback. Ava closed out hard with a high hand to block a shot on the perimeter. She handled the ball with poise, penetrated gaps with her dribble, forced the help defenders to commit, then fired smart passes out to open teammates on the perimeter. She's a guard who has the skills and instincts that make her a complete two-way player. Pinckney has talent that will catch some teams by surprise this winter, and Ava is in a primed position to have a big junior year.     Erin played her role well for the D3 State champs last season and she'll be an important contributor as a junior as they seek a repeat. She's a dangerous three-point threat who makes teams pay for giving her space on the perimeter. Erin's toughness stood out with Team 11 at the PGH MIchigan Expo. She showed her strength on the boards and boxed out with determination to secure rebounds. Erin corralled a rebound and powered up to score the put back. She used quick inside-out dribbles to create a driving lane, put her foot down, and attacked hard downhill to cause a foul. Erin is a versatile prospect with length, skill, and toughness that makes her an effective inside/outside player.     London has size, mobility, and a versatile skill set that will make her very impactful this season at Hazel Park. She was active on the boards for Team 11 at the PGH Michigan Expo. After securing rebounds, she immediately looked to push the ball in transition and was comfortable using both hands in the open court. London threw a long pass on the money during a fast break and stepped outside to shoot the three. She drove hard to the basket to cause a foul and closed out with high hands to disrupt shots on the perimeter.     Teagan gave Team 11 a spark at the PGH Michigan with her aggressiveness on the offensive end. She made a nice catch in the paint and transferred the ball quickly to her left, drawing a foul. Teagan ripped the ball hard from the perimeter, split the gap, then went up strong in traffic to score a contested floater with a soft touch. She knocked down a short jumper, grabbed rebounds, and showed confidence from the outside as a three-point threat. Teagan is an aggressive playmaker on both ends of the court and she'll be a key member of the back court at Grand Ledge.     Rhiley has length and skills that make her a very promising forward prospect. She made unselfish extra passes that resulted in assists and wide open looks for teammates. Rhiley has a smooth stroke from beyond the arc and drained an open corner three. She was active and sharp on the defensive end. Rhiley rotated over to block a shot, created a steal in the gap, and was productive on the boards. Rhiley was solid for Team 11 at the PGH Michigan Expo and she's about to have a great junior season at Ovid-Elsie.
