The Auburn Fieldhouse was a madhouse on Sunday, Sep. 6, as some of the [program_tooltip program_id='713132' first='Pacific' last=''] Northwest's elite girls basketball talent congregated under one roof for the annual Expo showcase. The best thing about these showcases is the even playing field they create. Every kid, whether ranked No. 1, 100, or not at all, puts on the same jersey and has the same opportunity to impress scouts over four hours of play. This year, over 100 girls registered for the Expo, enough for 12 5-on-5 teams and 32 3-on-3 teams. I'd call that a success!

Every 5-on-5 team gets an evaluation article, and my last write-up will be for team 9. This team was set apart by its wealth of tenacious guard play surrounding an uber-skilled big. They were truly one of the most fun teams to watch in the whole gym, and that includes the boys' events too.

She shoots off the catch with a quick release, and she can also one-two-step into a pull-up three. Her speed and agility also make her a dribble penetration threat, and she works well off screens. She is always looking to deflect passes and shots, and she makes the offense work for every inch. She delivered accurate passes to open teammates. I was not able to pinpoint any glaring weakness to her game, outside of maybe taking a tad too many risks — but I'd take an overaggressive player over a passive player any day.
Pruner showed her excellent versatility at this event. She is yet another Swiss Army knife-type player coming out of Matt Sanders's Sherwood program. Her biggest strength is her excellent rebounding; she just fights harder than others when the ball is up for grabs. Once she gets the ball, she makes the right play and can deliver perfect outlet passes. Offensively, her game is rapidly becoming complete. She is good at attacking closeouts and driving off the catch, she makes the right kick-out reads, and she can throw her body around down low. She also had several impressive defensive reps and shot blocks. I can see her succeeding at any position between the 2 and the 5.
Rowe was possibly the most skilled center in the building. You don't see a high school big every day who can run a half-court offense up top and also run a fast break, but that's exactly what she did—mind you, she was doing it with players she'd never played with before. She has all the movements down, including sealing off a fronting defender in the post, quick rolls to the rim off dribble handoffs, and great footwork all around. Instead of getting sped up, she operates at a controlled pace and uses soft touch rather than raw power to finish inside. She isn't all finesse, though; she also crashes the offensive glass with a high motor. Rowe will make you pay if you forget about her outside shot; her release is as silky as they come. She stood out as a unicorn in the gym. I would encourage D-I programs to give her a chance — she might not be the type of big you look for first, but she may be the one you need.

She has always quietly done her job at Forest Grove as a shooter, facilitator, defender and great teammate. Now a senior, she is getting more vocal and is highly motivated to play at the next level.
Bellini plays the game with calm confidence. We know she can shoot, and she hit some nice shots, but she didn't demand the ball outside the flow of the offense. Instead, she continued to run hard, make the right pass, contest shots, and communicate, which is what great players do when it's not their day to score. She was a last-second addition to this team and impacted them positively. Bellini proudly represents her Fil-Am heritage too, and I'm always a fan of that!
