The Expo-Top Players (Part 3)

I had the opportunity to attend the PGH Expo and the talent at The Champion Center was off the charts! This week I am continuing to go over who caught my eye in Part 3 today.

Great defense can sometimes be overshadowed, especially during a showcase, but it was Sanders defense that caught my eye and led to her inclusion on my list of Top Players from the Expo. Possessing good size, strength, and lateral quickness, Sanders style of defense gave whomever she was guarding fits as she accounted for double digit steals over the course of the afternoon. As a sophomore, Sanders averaged 2.7 steals per game and she is the type of player that, as a coach, you cannot afford to be without on the floor.

Cumicek, one of Notre Dame's top returning scorers continues to turn heads this offseason as she was, as expected, a top player at The Expo. Dynamic with the ball in her hands, Cumicek's three-level scoring ability was once again on display as she used an explosive first step, and tight handles, to get to the basket repeatedly. Always dangerous, on the perimeter, Cumicek knocked down not only open jumpers but also when contested. Look for her to have a huge sophomore season!

I like what I saw from McCray's game at The Expo. Strong, tough, and physical, McCray asserted her will, both in the post and on the glass, with the ability to deliver contact and finish through contact at the hoop. As a freshman, McCray averaged almost 7 boards a game and could end up as one of the Metro Classic's top rebounders this season.
