Sydney was impressive and consistent from start to finish at the MBA Train and Play. In drills, she scored in the paint with excellent touch and body control on her finishes. She defended a 2-on-1 perfectly, rotating quickly to force the miss. Sydney continued to stand out in games. She’s a sharpshooter from beyond the arc and knocked down the open three. Sydney swished a straightaway three, drained another up top, and buried a triple from the slot. She plays with a high IQ at point guard or as a two guard. Sydney has good instincts off the ball. She made smart cuts, filled space, and defended cuts well on the defensive end to eliminate easy layups. Sydney ripped by with a burst down the baseline to beat her defender off the dribble and scored with a nice inside hand finish. She caught a pass in the paint, recognized the disadvantage, and showed poise by retreat-dribbling to the perimeter to reset the offense. Sydney changed speeds, switched hands with ease, used overcrosses and head fakes to keep defenders off balance, and competed with a high motor. She has a bright future ahead at Allendale.
