SC Recruiting Notebook for Nov. 2

We have made it to November. That means high school girls' basketball in South Carolina – and across the country – is right around the corner. The middle of the month will mostly see jamborees before the real thing tips off around the latter portions of the month closer to Thanksgiving.

Playoffs in the fall sports are taking place and the attention of many a high school sports fan will soon turn to the many hoops gyms statewide.

And, as always, the recruiting trail never has an offseason. More seniors will make commitment announcements throughout the next several months and highly touted underclassmen will continue to field offers.

Here is the latest from the Palmetto State's ever-active recruiting trail.

Shaw is preparing for her senior season with a Kingstree team that will be in 1A Division 1 this season. Her latest offer was courtesy of Walters State in Tennessee. Shaw has also fielded offers previously from UNC-Pembroke, USC-Salkehatchie, SC State and Francis Marion. The FBC Bouncenation product averaged a double-double of 19.8 points and 11 rebounds plus five assists and 4.7 steals per contest last season. She and her Blazers will open the 2026-27 season at the She Got Next Thanksgiving Tournament against co-host 4A Irmo. The 1A classification being split into two divisions could do wonders for Kingstree's championship aspirations in 2026-27.

Carter has already experienced state championship euphoria on two occasions – including last season following her 29-point outburst in the 5A Division 2 state game with Greenville. Newberry coach Johnette Walker had a productive week on the Palmetto State recruiting trail as evidenced by the offer extended in Carter's direction. The [program_tooltip program_id='713550' first='Palmetto' last='76ers'] product has fielded offers from Lander, Livingstone College, Claflin, Anderson, Denmark Tech, Francis Marion and Minnesota North College – Vermillion. Carter averaged 13.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.9 steals per contest. She and her Stags will open the 2026-27 season in a clash of Lowcountry titans on Nov. 24 at defending SCISA 4A champion First Baptist.

Newberry and coach Johnette Walker also extended an offer in Brown's direction. Brown, a Team Essence South Georgia product, also fielded another in-state offer courtesy from Voorhees. Brown played her first season with 4A Beaufort last season and her addition paid dividends for the Eagles. She played in 23 games last season for Beaufort while averaging 15.8 points, 4.9 rebounds, three steals and 1.9 assists per game. Her offseason also included an appearance at the Prep Girls Hoops Expo two months ago. Brown's solid play helped the Eagles to the 4A Lower State semifinals last season.

The offseason was very busy in terms of transfers. Delly was one of those many transfers as she traded her 2A Andrew Jackson threads for those of 4A Legion Collegiate. Not only is she a basketball standout, she excels in flag football as well. A product of [program_tooltip program_id='713550' first='Palmetto' last='76ers'], Delly already fielded basketball offers from Voorhees and Morris College and recently added a pair of in-state flag football offers from Newberry and Winthrop to her impressive résumé. She averaged 13.2 points, five steals, 4.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists per game last season. The Lancers will open its 2026-27 campaign on Nov. 20 at 3A Brookland-Cayce.
