The Maroons got an outstanding boost from their home crowd and they turn up their defensive pressure and created havoc for the Chargers in the 2nd quarter, constantly forcing turnovers by getting into passing lanes. Champaign Central scored tons of easy buckets off of Centennial miscues. Central, also shot the ball really good from the three- point line and with all of the havoc they created on defense, their fast breaks and secondary breaks benefitted from their defense. Central took control of the game and pulled away in the 3rd quarter with a final score of 62-38.
Takeaways, Central might have the fastest guards in the state and the defensive intensity they play with can give anyone fits. On offense they are hard to guard because of their quick guard play getting into the paint and good decision making. Chanice Willis is also coming into her own being a consistent 25 plus scorer a night and a vocal leader on the court. On the Centennial side they played with a lot of heart and their Junior Star Guard Silvia Du is a really skilled player that showed she can create separation with her nice shifty handle. create space but she needs some of the supporting cast needs to pick it up, but they are young and have a lot of potential.
