McKenna Murphy - Fremont 24’
One of the sweeter strokes in Council Bluffs over the weekend belonged to McKenna Murphy. She has a strong base that helps her get into her shot and explode off the dribble. There were flashes of some elite playmaking too, seeing how plays will develop before they happen.
Yelaniya Bradley - Lincoln High 24’
Yelaniya showed more than just flashes of elite playmaking, she just maintained that level. Nobody had more impressive passing highlights than the freshman from Lincoln. I was surprised to see such a young player have the polished isolation game that she does. Pull-up jumpers, step-backs, or just blowing past her defender. She does it all with the ball.
[player_tooltip player_id="94405" first="Jillian" last="Aschoff"] - Piux X 21’
Hardest working player award goes to Jillian on this team. She was in constant motion, and was always crashing the glass. She has great speed which she uses to cut into open space. She has a hesitation dribble move that freezes defenders just enough for her to explode by. Jillian can vary her pace and strides to help her finish over size in the lane.
Elayna Chafee - Kelly Walsh 22’
Elayna was a fantastic pace-pusher for Team 5. She wouldn’t waste a moment between securing the rebound and racing up floor to put pressure on the defense. Easy points came in bunches when Elayna played at her best.
Raegan Halliday - Olathe South 22’
Raegan had her stamp all over this game, even if the stat sheet won’t show it. Her intelligence showed up in many ways, like a tipped rebound to a teammate when she knew she could not personally secure it, or doubling a post player at just the right time.
Jaylin Gaston - Louisville 22’
Every time down the floor, Jaylin was hustling and getting into position to rebound. Then she would be hustling right back down to the other end where she helped protect the rim. She knocked down a few above the break three-pointers too, for good measure.
