Week 1 Miami Valley Review- top upperclassmen

A short opening weekend saw some good action around Ohio, and although many teams are now under quarantine, the games go on and I will be bringing you several different looks each week from the games I attend. Last weekend, I stopped in and made a visit to Waynesville at Milton Union and the finals of the Arcanum Tournament championship game. <span style="font-size: 14pt;"><strong>Top Underclassmen from Week 1</strong></span> Here are five key upperclassmen who stood out in the games I saw from opening weekend of the high school basketball season in Ohio: <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="211742" first="Leah" last="Butterbaugh"], 5-8 2021, Waynesville- </strong>she has signed with Hartford, and her game has taken a step to another level. Not only is she a prolific perimeter threat, she controls the offense and gets her teammates involved. Leah moves well, and can find the open player for the best option for success for her team. <strong>Morgan Grudich, 5-8 2021, Milton Union- </strong>the floor leader for the Bulldogs and does the little things for her teams offense. Morgan has the ability to get to the rim, but does need to get stronger around the rim to finish. In the open court, she can push the ball north-south and can play an uptempo game. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="32604" first="Madelyn" last="Fearon"], 5-7 2022, Arcanum- </strong>her game continues to improve as she opened her season helping her team advance to the championship game of their host tournament. Showed her improved overall game with the ability to score at the rim and put pressure on her opponent, creating opportunities for her team. Smart and smooth on the court. <em>(pictured above)</em> <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="92539" first="Hailey" last="Unger"], 5-8 2022, Arcanum- </strong>Hailey showed on Saturday some glimpses of her scoring ability with some good perimeter shooting and she did get to the rim at times. Just needed to finish her shots under pressure at the rim. Showed good handles and solid defense. Stepped up and took the potential game-tying shot at the buzzer, showed confidence and wanted the ball. The backcourt of Unger and Fearon are among the top duos in the area. <strong>Ashley Scott, 5-8 2021, Russia- </strong>not flashy but productive, I liked her game after seeing her in person for the first time. She was a solid floor leader who played with confidence. She can finish on the break, and played well north-south in transition. Ashley can create turnovers and capitalize on that. Has active hands. &nbsp; &nbsp;
