Team Previews- Franklin Furnace Green

One of the top teams to watch this season will be a Division 7 power in Southeast, Ohio Franklin Furnace Green. Loaded with size and experience, Green looks to compete with a very challenging non-conference schedule and begin their goal of a nice tournament run.

PLAYERS TO WATCH

Currently ranked as a top 10 senior in Ohio, Abbie is headed to Marshall after her time at Green concludes. Abbie has nearly 1,800 career points but she does so much more. Handles the ball well, her ability to play the perimeter will be her future as she has a very solid inside/out game. Working every day to improve and prepare herself for the next level. Can run the break and push tempo. Can score at will but for her it is about getting 100% healthy and keep working on her perimeter game.

Another young lady with the desire and skill to play at the next level, Laney nearly averaged a double-double last season. Her game is similar to Abbie, as she formerly was strictly a post player, but she has developed an outside game. Continuing to work on her game, working on her handles and physical strength and conditioning. Expect a new look from Laney this season.

She is back and ready to redeem for missing an entire junior season with an ACL injury. As a sophomore she was an all-Ohio player so the Bobcats are looking for her to be a major contributor this season from the guard spot. Can run the point if needed, and is not afraid to let it fly from behind the arc. She is in best shape of her life after using the last year to rehab and condition. Matti brings a huge addition back to the team.

Elizabeth is a player who plays well in the flow of their offense. Can knock down the three and over the summer, she worked a lot on her shot to make it more consistent. Able to handle the ball at times, but she is more comfortable on the wing. Can get the ball where it needs to go, can also beat the defender and score off the drive.

SLEEPER TO WATCH

For a senior, she looks to be the point guard for this talented team after transferring over to Green last season and sitting out the required final 11 games. Now the ball is in her hands and people won't recognize her this year. She is their best defender and leaves it all on the floor. Big difference maker on that end of the court. Ready for a big season ahead.
