#10 The University of Texas – Rio Grande commit completes the list of top 10 players in the Wichita area. After a sub-par season as a sophomore Romer got things together over the summer of 2022 and helped make the Crusaders a night-in, night-out challenge to take out. The team ended a game under .500 for the year. “Lizzie” earned Greater Wichita Area League first team and Varsity Kansas 5A honorable mention honors for her play. Romer played well this past summer. My colleague Simmie Colson liked how she roamed the perimeter to get open. Once found she quickly buried shots on the “catch and shoot.” Her ball skills caught up with her shooting ability over the years and she now handles well in transition as well as off the dribble. Of all players I was asked about by college coaches this past summer Romer was near the top of the list. With the loss of her long-time point guard Sophie Gimino to the West Point track program it will be interesting to see who will step forward as the assist generator to feed Romer.
