The tournament this weekend, The Race for the Legacy, concluded on Sunday with tournament finals in several age groups. Below is a look at eight young ladies who I thought stood out in their games I was able to see on Sunday. Being from Indiana, this was my first time seeing each of them, so I am interested in seeing them play more throughout the Spring and Summer.

Mallory sticks out as one of my favorite players to have watched over the weekend. She has an athletic frame and is strong enough to absorb contact. At the same time, she has good speed and quickness, and she is a playmaker at both ends of the floor. She buried 3-pointer after 3-pointer, she was able to break down defenders off the bounce, and she found open teammates offensively. Defensively, she was good on the ball, and she played with a motor and got on the floor for loose balls repeatedly.

Sarah is a really nice physical talent with good all-around skill. She is a long, wiry strong athlete who plays with fluidity and some bounce in her step. Offensively, she is great attacking the basket and finishing in a variety of ways, she has a solid mid-range games as well, plus she can handle it around the perimeter and knock down open rhythm jumpers. I also think she can become a high-level defender with versatility.

Oftentimes with top prospects, you see them forcing shots trying to put up big numbers every game. But what impressed me with Katy is that she allowed the game to come to her. She has great length, fluid athleticism, and some speed and quickness. When she wants, she can get to the basket and finish, she has nice touch outside, plus she can handle it at times and run offense or find open teammates. She could stand to get a little stronger for the next level, but she has a great deal of upside.

Emily is a really unique prospect who is somewhat difficult to label by a single position. She has an athletically strong frame, she has some length, and she moves around the floor well. She has a solid handle and can really pass the ball, plus she can knock down an open rhythm jumper outside. Additionally, she can play in the mid-post and even post up smaller defenders. She can play either a bigger wing or a perimeter ‘4’ role at times.

From what I understand, Ayianna has come a long way developmentally in the last year. She has a solid, athletic frame, good length, and she moves fairly well in most directions. When she’s around the basket, she can finish athletically over defenders. She can even put it on the floor from the mid-post and attack the basket. She’ll still need to shoot it a little better at 15-feet and continue drilling her skillset, but there is nice upside with her.

Kailey was one of several lefties I saw over the weekend, and she played with nice versatility to her game. She has some length, wiry strength, and she’s a solid athlete in most directions. She can handle the ball a little, almost like a point forward. She can knock down an open rhythm jumper outside as well. But her strength right now is attacking the basket straight-line and scoring at the rim or earning repeated trips to the line.

I actually noticed Payton while I was waiting for a 16U game to begin. She has a fairly strong frame for a 2025, but she’s also a nice athlete with good all-around skill. She handles the ball well and was a willing facilitator, she used her frame to her advantage and played with a nice motor, but what stood out the most was her ability to hit shot after shot from outside. She is a really nice ballplayer with great upside.

(above) finally graduates, Libertyville opponents will have a new Fisher to deal with in younger sister Lily. Lily is a long, wiry, fluid, and smooth wing forward. She has good all-around skill and a tremendous feel for the game for just a 6th Grader. She can make plays with the dribble, knock down open jumpers, battle inside with her height and length, plus she plays with a nice motor and some toughness.
