Another player that has been stepping up the past few seasons and especially this one for her Thunderbirds High School team is Kenzie Melcher Kenzie Melcher 5'11" | SG Bellevue West | 2024 State NE . Melcher is a Northwest Missouri State commit and a heck of a Shooting Guard. More times than not, if she has an open look from the outside or a lane to the hoop, she is going to score a bucket. In her teams contest against Lincoln Southeast to end this week, Melcher had 15 Points along with a handful of other positive stats in her teams victory. Something to note about this outing is that all of these points came from behind the arc. That’s not always the case with Melcher’s game but she has demonstrated that she can get hot from the outside in quite a hurry, especially if she see’s the first one go in.  This team has put together a positive season and I’m sure they are ready to keep that momentum rolling into the Playoffs.

Kenzie Melcher Kenzie Melcher 5'11" | SG Bellevue West | 2024 State NE has game. Plain and Simple. A 5’11 combo guard who is listed as forward most of the time but with her size and shooting capabilities, I put her more at a guard position. Melcher is really solid. She is a competitor who leaves it all out on the floor each and every game while also being a pivotal play-maker for whatever team she is lacing up for. She can score on all three levels and displays an impressive shot from behind the arc. What I mean by that is, her stance is also wide, her balance is always in the middle of her body, and her shooting mechanics are the same every shot. All these things add up to an efficient and fundamental shooter from deep. She is committed to play at the next level in a very good Northwestern Missouri State Bearcats program. A program that is very competitive in conference each season and will look to keep that streak alive with Melcher coming on board in the near future.

A talented three level scorer, Melcher is an aggressive player with strength, who can step back and knock down jumpers. She has a strong ability to get to any spot on the floor she wants and can finish through contact when attacking the rim. Defensively, Melcher uses her size, strength and footwork to stay in front of defenders and rarely allows an easy shot attempt. The Thunderbirds will be using Melchers grit in clutch moments this year for sure.
