Kaytee Irons might not have been the crazy scoring threat that she usually is from deep this weekend to kick things off but she is doing everything else well that a PG should be. She is creating off her dribble action, finding open teammates at a high rate. She is getting scrappy on defense and showing that she isn’t going to take plays off on that side of the floor. All while communicating at a high rate, running the floor efficiently, and helping out everyone else around her within their action. The reality is that Irons makes everyone better and that’s the job of your PG so as long as she keeps this type of action up, I’m sure the interest is going to flood in from the next level as this AAU season continues to progress. She is someone that her coaches can trust. That’s going to take her a long way over the next few years and at the next level.

A stalwart for the past two Lincoln Southwest state tournament teams, Irons offensive game stepped up in a big way during 2025-26. A real playmaker in her role, Irons should excel here as well for ETG Midwest Elite on the adidas 3SSB tour this spring and summer. She upped her scoring to 14.8 points per game this past winter and also led LSW with 2.1 steals per contest. An Elite shooter, she connected on 52 percent of her 2-point shots and was 34 percent behind the arc, making 56 triples on the year.

Made the most of her one state tournament game by keeping the Silverhawks alive to the very end until they lost to Kearney, 55-51. Irons scored 22 points on 6-for-12 3-point shooting and got to the rim effectively a few times as well. Irons had an excellent junior season where she led the Silverhawks in scoring (14.8), rebounding (5.0) and steals (2.1). Like many in the class of 2027, another big summer awaits for Irons who we expect to continued with ETG Midwest.

The collegiate interest for Kaytee Irons is slowly starting to rise now that she is into her Junior season. In the recruitment process you have to be patient. Most colleges won’t talk to you until your are a Junior in high school unless you are someone catching the eye of high-end D1 programs. Now that Irons is a Junior and putting up some eye-opening numbers to kick off this Winter, we have some individuals who are interested. College coaches from across the Midwest are messaging PGH asking about Irons status, her current offers, and what her outlook might be in the near future at the next level. I tell them all the same thing. Irons is a pass-first PG with great instincts. She has an act for making big plays and usually it has nothing to do with actually scoring the rock herself. The way she sets her teammates up, understands situations, and her natural jump to the ball is next level. Whenever she takes the floor to compete she is impactful and that’s why she sits in this #3 spot in our Update.

Kaytee Irons was one of the only prospects out of Nebraska to get the nod to come to this event as it was invite only and she showed out in some major ways. First – Irons came into the event and DOMINATED from the three point line. She owed the three point competition, becoming the three point shooting champion and she didn’t stop there. She also showed off her solid gameplay as a pass-first PG. The best PG’s out there can do it all and they make the most out of their chances. They worry about others first but they can also take over when need be. They make open shots on rotation when it’s passed back to them and they defend like their life depends on it. That was Irons at this camp. She led by example in every way imaginable and that stood out to everyone watching. Including a bunch of collegiate programs who happened to be paying attention from afar.

is a tough guard who has an all-around game that impacts winning.
KayTee had perhaps the best handle at the event, navigating pick and rolls and defensive pressure with ease.
Irons is a solid finisher around the basket who has a knack for drawing contact.
She is a good rebounder for her position and a tough defender. KayTee really shined in the 3v3 portion and hit timely shots in the 5v5 games. Overall, she showcased an exceptional feel for the game.

Kaytee Irons is one of the most skilled prospects that we have in the building today for this event and she has started things off on the right note. Irons understands her own size, ability, and what works where in any given situation. Something that is very hard to teach is the mental side of the game of basketball but that’s never been the case with Irons. Instead, she is always mentally on point and we see that already today. She knows where to put the ball on the backboard against bigger defenders so it won’t get tipped, she knows where her spots are at to be the most efficient she can possibly be, and she knows how to be productive without having to control the ball physically at all times. All in all, great start before we get up and down the floor.

lead Lincoln Southwest in most positive statistical categories this Winter at the Varsity level. Irons is a smaller PG that is extremely skilled as a Pass-First type. She understands the X’s and O’s of the game, she knows how to play off of two feet on both sides of the ball, and she can heat up in a hurry if she see’s one of her shots fall early in a contest. Defensively, she is extremely calculated, always getting tips and deflections on the ball because of her mixture of active hands and quick feet in the open court. In this Update, Irons will continue to hold onto the #3 spot moving into this Winter. She is coming off of a successful AAU season with her ETG Midwest
Elite
program and she is ready to keep that momentum rolling as things move forward.

does over the next twelves months within her basketball career. Irons made the move to ETG Midwest

this AAU season and it’s seeming to be the correct move. Irons brings savvy-ness, smarts, a quick first step, nature leadership abilities, and the willingness to always get better in any given moment to the floor. She led a team to a State appearance for her Freshman year then followed that up with putting together the second best overall season for players out of the 2027 Class within Nebraska when accounting for production #’s as a whole. I’m not sure how she follows that up but I can’t wait to see it first hand as we move forward with the rest of our Summer.

“Irons picked up these past two days right where she left off last season and that is killing her competition. You can tell that Irons is the top-dawg for her program. She came in as a PG last season and really helped her team succeed in some crucial moments. It looks like that’s going to continue to be her responsibility over the next two years as well. Today she was shifting defenders up with her handle, making everyone else around her better, and having fun while doing it. When you have those three things, you get a lot of promise out of a future college committed athlete and that’s what we saw first hand with this one.”
