Tatum is a special, special point guard whose playmaking ability will continue to get her noticed. She played a key role as a freshman on the Thunderbirds state semifinal team last season and this winter she led the Birds in scoring at 18 points per game. Also had averages of 3.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.3 steals for Bellevue West this year as they advanced to a Class A district final.

this Winter. Tatum has built on the foundation she has placed in the passed as being a twitchy and crafty PG. Tatum moves differently than most others at her age. She is consistently able to get to the bucket for finishes off her nasty cross over and she can also step up to hit a jumper or two as well. Defensively, she can stick with her position and cause chaos in the half court or full court, depending on what is being asked of her. All in all, Tatum is going to be a great player at the D1 level one day. She just needs to keep working but for now she holds onto our #1 spot in this Update.

this Winter at Bellevue West High School. Tatum is the #1 rated 2028 out of Nebraska. She is a high level PG, that moves differently than everyone else out of her Class. She has a nasty handle with a killer cross, she has great body control while attacking her defender in any situation, she is a crafty passer off of the bounce or catch, and she is calculated on defense which leads to a lot of steals and plays going the other way for her team’s. Tatum made her mark last Winter as being a killer in every definition of the phrase. If she plays to her full capabilities, I’m sure it will be much of the same as she returns this Winter for her Sophomore campaign.

moves differently than everyone one else out of this 2028 Class at this point in time. Tatum competes with great energy, a shifty handle, and an impressive ability to create to a very high rate for all of those around her. She is almost impossible to defend in the open court with how crafty she can be but she also tries to keep it simple whenever plausible. Tatum will lead Bellevue West once again this Upcoming Winter. If she can build on what she help set in place last Winter, they should see some ample success over the next few months.

The #1 rated prospect out of the 2028 Class at this moment in time just grabbed her first Division-1 offer from in-state UNO out of Omaha. If you have been paying attention, much like UNK, UNO is working hard with their new staff to offer the best talent that the state of Nebraska has to offer in an attempt to show their presence within the area. A respectable strategy for a program that is trying to work their way back on the map. Tatum is the real deal. A Shifty PG with facilitating ability uncommon to most. She can also score in the blink of an eye in a plethora of different ways, always making it look smooth no matter what the situation might be. This is Tatum’s first D1 offer but it won’t be her last.

3SSB has proven this AAU season that she is legit. Her feel for the game, the way she moves down the floor, and her ability to understand situational awareness on the court helps her thrive. It doesn’t matter what state she is on or what team she is on, when Tatum is playing with the ball in her hands, everyone else is better. That fact gets lost on some individuals. It’s very tough to be the #1 rated player out of your Class when you don’t make others around you better so it’s important that she checks off that box for college coaches. At the 3SSB finals, Tatum has been doing what she can. She is playing respectable ball and her team is winning. Two things that mean a lot at this point in the process.

If you want to be the #1 prospect for your Class within your home-state, you need to check off a lot of boxes. You need to be physically dominant in some form, you need to be extremely skilled, and you have to still have a high ceiling looking towards the future. Someone who checks all of these boxes for the 2028 Class in Nebraska is PG,

. Tatum has a killer crossover, impressive body control at the bucket, she can create and find open teammates at a high rate, all while leading by example as a top notch communicator and motivator. When she has been at Live College Viewing events these past three months she has been a standout to everyone watching in attendance and I’m sure that trend is going to continue moving into July.

of Bellevue West compete. She has another level to her game that most don’t and she is only going to be a Sophomore this upcoming Winter. We ranked Tatum as the #1 overall 2028 in the state for a reason. She has another gear to her skill-set and its noticeable.”

handle with a deadly crossover, she is a top-notch facilitator at the PG spot, her ability to score from all three levels is eye-opening, she has a lethal combination of quick hands/active feet, and she competes with a higher motor than most her age. Tatum was mixing it up this weekend. She had her defenders in the spin cycle each contest, making several opponents look silly in their pursuit of her. The sky is the limit for this one. If she continues to grow in her game, she will be ranked nationally before you know it.

Nyla Tatum starts off as the #1 prospect in the 2028 Class in the state and mainly because she has every tool to lead a team in every facet of the game. Tatum is a PG standing at 5’7 with a nasty but efficient handle, great mental awareness, and a higher motor than most her age. Offensively, she can either be a walking bucket or a top notch facilitator to those around her. Defensively, she can lock up in the full court, half court, or within any defense that her team might be using. She jumps to the ball with great instincts and that stands out on every court she is competing on. Coming off of a very impressive freshman run with her Bellevue West varsity team, Tatum will stick with her ETG Midwest Elite 3SSB group for travel season as their PG. This team is loaded with stars so it’ll be fun to see how Tatum leads that group.
