As of last Thursday evening, Soma Okola of Glenn High School and Phoenix 2025 AAU narrowed down her college list to six prestigious programs. Including four high-end D1 programs like North Carolina, Iowa State, Washington, and Miami. Okola’s game would best be described as a bruiser at the guard position with touch, coordination, agile movement, and a high level of situational knowledge of the game from an X’s and O’s perspective. She is a high-end ranking prospect out of Texas, that could be considered a Combo Guard or Forward and that’s says a lot about what she can bring to the floor for her size at 6’1. Texas has some bucket getters and this is definitely one of them to know about before she makes her commitment in the near future.

Has been a joy to watch her develop from a back-to-the-basket player who rebounded and scored on putbacks into a player who can DOMINATE from both ends of the paint. Okola is arguably one of the most athletic players in Texas that can actually play. Yeah she has videos of her taking off and dunking, as well as pinning the ball in the square yet I’ll never forget Coach Myers asking me to stick around and watch this 7th grader that was going to be special and he was correct. There are NOT a lot of players around like her and being the recipient of alley-oops galore is part of it, another is her desire to get better and now she’s dropping it from mid to long-range which is why double digit D1’s , over 20, are on the table
