The Miami Suns hosted several players from the West Coast of Florida ranging from Tampa all the way to Brandon / Sarasota. Here are some of the standouts from the workout.
2023
D’Yanis Jimenez D’Yanis Jimenez 5'9" | PG Charlotte | 2023 State FL (Charlotte HS) 5’9 Guard
Jimenez is a returning Miami Suns player who has played two years at the 17U level and is expected to be one of the top players for Miami Suns Team Fowles 17U EYBL squad next season. She is a tall, athletic guard who is savvy with the ball in her hands and dangerous in the open court. She is one of the most talented offensive players in the state of Florida and has a super high ceiling!
Kiaraly Cabrera Kiaraly Cabrera 5'7" | CG Naples Community School | 2023 State FL (Community School of Naples)
Cabrera and Jimenez have a lot of similarities to their game as they are both straight dangerous in the open court. Cabrera knocked down the open 3 and finished well at the rim. Her height and athleticism stand out amongst the competition and she uses her height well to score above defenders and can see over the top utilizing her court vision and basketball IQ.
Jayda Green Jayda Green 5'7" | CG South Fort Myers | 2023 State FL (South Fort Myers High School)
Green is a slender, athletic guard is a smooth offensive player with deep 3-point range. She is tall, lanky, athletic and has deep range. She was one of the top performers at the showcase and has an excellent offensive skill set.
Juanita Rendon (Barron Collier High School)
Rendon is a slender combo guard who was solid on both sides of the basketball playing consistently on the offensive and defensive ends. She has a cool and calming presence on the court but plays with confidence. She has a high basketball IQ, is a good decision maker, and shoots a high percentage from 3.
Makayla Sprague (South Fort Myers High School)
Sprague is a small, skilled guard who plays hard and with consistent energy. She is aggressive on both ends of the court and does a good job being around the basketball. She is a capable 3-point shooter with solid ball handling skills and a good on ball defender who uses her basketball IQ to also be a good help side defender.
2024
Ty’Nazia Smith (Seacrest Country Day)
Smith was the smallest player at the showcase but used her size and speed to her advantage. She is a small, quick, explosive point guard who is creative attacking off the dribble and puts the ball to the floor aggressively with an eye on attacking the basket. She has a quick release and knocked down several open 3s.
2025
Asya Lara Barnes (Bellcreek Academy)
Barnes was the most intriguing prospect at the workout. The 5’10 lefty is a versatile wing / forward who is very skilled. Her outside shooting was her biggest strength as she shot a high percentage both in the drill portion of the workout as well as in the open run portion. The combination of her skill and height are very intriguing and just entering high school she has a high ceiling and will be a player to watch in the future.
Kenyan Moss (Gateway High School)
Moss and Barnes were the two youngest players at the workout and both stood out for their potential. Moss has a strong, solid build with mass and can play inside and out. The young forward is mature and big for her age and is impactful in the paint and around the rim. Her offensive game is a bit under developed but she has a high ceiling as she is just starting high school. Time will tell how her game develops .
