Players from four states drawn from 2022 to 2026 classes were assigned to teams and showed their game to college coaches watching in person and via BallerTV. Fellow Kansas scout Phillipe McCree, Lead Missouri scout Earl Austin, and I watched a deep field break up into 10 teams and get after it. We have worked compared notes to produce our Kansas City PGH Top 250 Expo All-Event Team.
Eliana Arambula Eliana Arambula 5'5" | PG Benton | 2026 State MO , 5’5″, PG, Mid-Buchanan (MO), 2026 – Arambula is a terrific all-around player with a smart and mature game. Few defenders could even semi-consistently keep her in front of them. Handles, finishing ability, steadiness and quickness, perimeter range, and vision are easily noted but what separates her is what poker players call second-level thinking. She knows what shot she wants to take or play she wants to make and is able to create or move into space to set herself up to do it.
KaMyra Barber KaMyra Barber 5'9" | PG Wichita Heights | 2025 State KS , 5’9″, PG, Sunrise Christian Academy (KS), 2025 – Barber showed off arguably the strongest crossover dribble. Package it with speed and quick moves she can finish with elevation and athleticism. One ‘Wow’ moment was crossover, 3 quick dribbles into the lane, whirl left, elevate and half-reverse scoop with her right hand off the left-side glass for a hoop.
Chloe Clevenger Chloe Clevenger 5'6" | PG McPherson | 2023 State KS , 5’6″, PG, McPherson (KS), 2023 – Clevenger’s high energy motor sets the tone for her game on both ends of the floor. And given she broke the school cross country record the previous day, she was arguably in the best shape of anybody on the floor. Combine speed, endurance, strong handles, athleticism and drive and you get a player that pretty much abused on both ends all but the top of the field. Defensively, her drive to compete against the best always found her defending the opposing team’s best ball handler.
Rory Conboy, 6’0″, PF/SF, Lindbergh (MO), 2024 – As a player with good size, length, and hustle who works well in the screen and roll game Conboy creates a lot of opportunities for herself and ball handlers because of her effectiveness. With the ball, she can be pretty slick in the handles department. Defensively her size and quickness enables her to play multiple positions well.
Breona Hurd, 6’2″, C, Waynesville (MO), 2024 – I could go off on Hurd’s size, strength, speed and handles in transition, movement without the ball, and off-ball defense to disrupt cutters and passes. But what impresses me the most with Hurd is her hands and her strength and quickness to go up immediately off the catch. Hurd is a walking mismatch for nearly anyone but her bounce is not something opponents are generally prepared for.
Emajin McCallop Emajin McCallop 5'7" | CG Bishop Miege | 2022 State KS , 5’8″, PG, Bishop Miege (KS), 2022 – McCallop can devour a ball handler defensively with her physicality, super quick hands, and strength. A slight mistake and she’s all over the ball for the steal or a quick kick ahead to a teammate on the run-out. Even off the bounce. A player might think they have her beaten but time and again I saw her rip the ball away from an finishing opponent and take off the other way. McCallop can lead a break, handle through traffic with speed and control, and score at all three levels but what sets her a cut above is her defense. Kudo’s to Alabama A&M on landing this gem.
Aleah Moree Aleah Moree 6'2" | C Winfield | 2024 State KS , 6’2″, C, Winfield (KS), 2024 – I have been awaiting an event to see Moree to consistently be tested on both ends of the floor by quality bigs game-in, game-out. She lay rest any doubts. She showed quickness in her mid-range face-up range, strength and control in her post-ups into contested turnaround jumpers, transition speed, a strong motor, and defensive ability away from the ball. Players need to be in protection mode when she crashes the boards on a teammate’s shot.
Addison Schletzbaum Addison Schletzbaum 5'10" | SF Atchison County | 2023 State KS , 5’9″, CG/F, Atchison Community (KS), 2023 – Schletzbaum was a consistent presence on both ends of the floor. She has a solid, strong frame that she effectively uses to great effect in setting screens away from the ball better. It comes in handy in the rebounding game as she is able to overpower a high percentage of similar height opponents. Schletzbaum elevates well on her mid-range jumper and when finishing at speed with length.
Madison Smith, 5’7″, CG, Derby (KS), 2024 – Smith is a lengthy and solidly built player with athleticism and a strong motor. She moves well into space on the perimeter, is speedy in transition, and made a terrific play where she caught a down-the-floor pass on the run to finish against three defenders. Smith is a perimeter threat who can pull the trigger off the catch quickly.
Regan Williams, 6’2″, CG, Park Hill South (MO), 2024 – After missing a few months due to injury Williams was back in form. While she does not have the sheer size of fellow 2024s Breona Hurd or and Aleah Moree Aleah Moree 6'2" | C Winfield | 2024 State KS , she still showed she had the size and strength to battle them. Drawing them defensively exemplified her ability to play and defend several positions. Quickness reared its head when matched up at the top of the key with Hurd, She was able to react quickly to a drive attempt to draw an offensive foul. Williams is a three level scorer with handles to work well in transition and the half court.
