She has a competitive edge to her game that you can feel in the gym when she is playing, the intensity with the combination of her silky smooth skill set is a pleasure to watch. She has a tremendous tight handle with a bunch of craftiness and swiftness to her game, which allows her to get past defenders with ease and she is crafty enough to finish in the paint and as well strong enough to bounce off defenders to get AND 1’s which fires her up and her team.
The second time I witness Niyah play this past season was in the State Semifinals and Finals. Both games she and Chicago Marshall battle all the way back for two outstanding wins. The last one including winning the 2A State Title. in both games, she displayed her relentless and passion to do whatever it takes to win. Defensively, she showed off her great athleticism and lateral quickness on defense and she also has very quick hands. She’s also a great help defender and has long arms which were clutch for Chicago Marshall down the stretch when they put her on top of their press.
Niyah had a phenomenal sophomore campaign. She also showed great improvement by showing the ability that she can easily score on all three levels. She has a great mid-range which is one of the strengths of the game but to add to that she can shoot the 3 points shot really good and is very aggressive getting to the rim. She showed good potential playing in the pick and roll and the ability to become a plus pass, I believe she can even improve on that aspect of her game because she does have good vision. She is a very intriguing prospect and we can not wait to continue to see her improvement this spring/summer.
Niyah also made 2nd team All-State Class 2A.
