Prep Girls Hoops Ohio
For the first time, the top seniors from the Miami Valley and across Ohio all come together for one night of great basketball, and a last chance to not only play in one final game with their peers, but a chance for the limited number of uncommited seniors to showcase their talent in front of college coaches.
The event was held at Bethel High School, and there were two games, all involving 2019 players winding down their high school careers.
There were several girls who shined on the evening, in a pair of games where 366 points were scored in the two games.
Here are my top shooters on the evening:
Morgan Haney Morgan Haney 5'7" | CG Miami East High School | 2019 State OH , 5-8, Casstown Miami East- Phenomenal all-around player, who suffered through injuries during her high school career. She had a very strong senior year, and continued to shine on this night. Very explosive and can elevate over the defenders to shoot from the perimeter,
Sammi Whiteman, 5-8, Covington- Was crowned the Ohio Player of the Year for Division Four and her perimeter shooting is second to none. Has great range from all around the perimeter, and has midrange shot is also consistent. Good handles and just makes plays happen.
Kasey Knippen, 5-9, Ottoville- Her range is unreal, as she hit two shots from 30-feet out at the top of the key in the all-star game. She has a good complete game, smart player, and good leader. If you give her a inch, she will launch the three.
Emma Printz, 5-7, New Madison Tri Village- She isn’t afraid to shoot from anywhere, and from any range. Steady consistent perimeter threat and can break open a game against a zone. Gets her shot off quickly.
Lauren Hapgood Lauren Hapgood 5'8" | CG Oakwood High School | 2019 State OH , 5-7, Dayton Oakwood- This kid has improved so much and you can tell she works hard at her game. Loves to light up a defense if you leave her open, also loves to penetrate and score or dish for the easiest opportunity. Can launch them from everywhere at any time.
Rachel Murray Rachel Murray 5'7" | CG Waynesville High School | 2019 State OH , 5-7, Waynesville- this girl is still uncommitted, and a lot of colleges are missing the boat with her. She is another perimeter threat who hit three from beyond the arc in this game. Incredible leader and scorer.
Peyton Scott, 5-9, Lynchburg Clay- my first time to see her live, and to say she is impressive is an understatement. She is headed to Miami of Ohio and showed a lot of her strengths in this game. Buried some long threes and scored on the break. Very good handles and a threat from the midrange as well.
Courtney Prenger, 6-2, Minster- yes, she is known as a post player in high school, but she isn’t afraid to let it fly if you leave her open. She doesn’t shoot them often, but on this night, she was joining in on the fun in the high scoring attack.
