DMV Super Scrimmage- Guard Prospects That Shined

There was a ton of high level play makers in the gym at the DMV Super Scrimmage at Good Counsel over the weekend. I got to see quite a few prospects that I had seen before, but more importantly I saw some new ones that I will be following as well. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="293230" first="Makayla" last="Jackson"],  Bullis School, 2023 </strong> <img class="alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-355426" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/11/20211120_113714_HDR-scaled-crop-1920x1261-1637628427-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /> Makayla caught my eye on the defensive end when she ran down a guard on a routine breakaway lay up and swatted it out of bounds like she was Lebron James. I really like how she defends as she's physical with good hands but does not foul a lot. She has good instincts and timing and did a good job of turning ball handlers and staying in front. She played with poise and let the game come to her on offense. She did a good job of facilitating the offense and then scoring when necessary. Very competitive player with a strong IQ. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="239390" first="Caliyah" last="DeVillasee"], Good Counsel, 2025</strong> <a href="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/11/20211120_145128_HDR-scaled-crop-1920x1261-1637646623.jpg"><img class="alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-355545" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/11/20211120_145128_HDR-scaled-crop-1920x1261-1637646623-150x150.jpg" alt="" width="150" height="150" /></a> Caliyah is one of the most promising 2025 guards in the area. She is a strong ball handler with good vision and she makes sound decisions with the ball. She plays with a bit of flair and is a shot maker. She came off the bench and gave her team solid minutes. <strong>Cameron Spinner, Bullis, 2024</strong> Cameron has made steady improvement since the summer. She is a shooter and a scorer. She was shooting from three with confidence and knocking them down and also did some nice work getting into the lane for  buckets. She was active and vocal on defense. With improved ball handling she can be a solid two guard at the next level. <strong>Sydni Smith, Elizabeth Seton, 2022</strong> <img class="alignnone size-thumbnail wp-image-355547" src="https://prephoops-uploads.s3.amazonaws.com/pgh/uploads/2021/11/20211120_105814_HDR-1-150x150.jpg" alt="Sydni Smith" width="150" height="150" /> Sydni is a real scrappy and tough competitor with a strong motor. She straps up on defense and makes a lot of hustle plays. She has a good pull up mid range in her bag and knocked down some corner threes. She can play both guard spots and is still looking for the right college situation. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="238825" first="Leah" last="Harmon"], Sidwell Friends, 2024</strong> One of my favorite players from the event. She has quite a few tricks in the bag; floaters, pull ups, finishes with both hands, crossovers, you name it. Exceptional athlete with excellent balance and patience which allows her to get off whatever shot she wants. You get the feeling she can go off and score whenever she wants but she stays within the offense and does her job. Competes on both ends of the floor. Big time potential. &nbsp;
