We covered First team last week, in this article let’s take a look at some of the other top talents in Class A that shouldn’t go unnoticed.
[player_tooltip player_id="14171" first="Rachel" last="Dahlen"], Sr., Devils Lake - An aggressive post that had 8 double-doubles this year. Dahlen had an explosive senior year whether it went the way the Firebirds would’ve wanted it or not. Dahlen was a head-turner averaging double-figure nights in all but 3 games. Rachel finished the year averaging 15.8 points, 9 rebounds, 2.3 steals, and 1.7 blocks.
[player_tooltip player_id="240861" first="Jocelyn" last="Schiller"], Soph., Grand Forks Red River - If there was such a thing as defensive all-conference Schiller would surely make the list. A sophomore guard that averaged 5.5 steals a game and can straight up score the ball! Jocelyn is a first-team all-state in the making. This year she averaged 21.4 points 5.7 assists and 4.2 rebounds.
[player_tooltip player_id="342164" first="Maggie" last="Fricke"], Eighth Grade, Minot High - An 88% free throw shooter and 35.3% trey ball shooter Fricke is one of the youngest stars on this reigning Class A state championship Minot squad. This year Fricke averaged 15.8 points, 4.8 rebounds, 2 assists and 2.1 steals a game. A future All-State first team nominee and possible D2-D1 athlete. Fricke has a bright future ahead of her.
[player_tooltip player_id="245588" first="McKenna" last="Johnson"], Fr., Mandan - A walking double-double as a freshman averaging 13.5 points and 11.1 rebounds a game Johnson has a bright future ready for Mandan... Oh, did I mention she lead Class A in blocks a game at almost 4 a game! Yeah Dakotas, get use to hearing the name [player_tooltip player_id="245588" first="McKenna" last="Johnson"] for the next 3 years.
<strong>Leelee Bell</strong>, Eighth Grade, Minot High - 15.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1 block and 1 steal a game Leelee Bell does all the horse work for Minot. She and other 8th grade talent [player_tooltip player_id="342164" first="Maggie" last="Fricke"], lead the Majettes to their second State Championship ever... Did I mention that their only 8th graders?
[player_tooltip player_id="211403" first="Chloe" last="Pfau"], Jr., West Fargo High - Pfau is a monster of a player. She unfortunately got hurt against Red River early into the second half of the year. She boasted West Fargo to a 8-1 record averaging 20 points, 7.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists, 3.4 steals and .9 blocks a game. A player that has a high ceiling and who will surely come back next year fiercer that ever!
[player_tooltip player_id="377821" first="Amya" last="Gourneau"], Jr., Turtle Mountain - A hot starter that finished a bit slow. Amya can flat out score the basketball at all 3 levels. She finished the year averaging 19.4 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.5 assists. Amya is a special talent that doesn’t get the buzz some of the other athletes get because of Turtle Mountains winning percentage, but don’t sleep on this player as she’s electrifying and will surely put buckets on your head.
[player_tooltip player_id="99822" first="Emily" last="Srejma"], Sr., Fargo Shanley - 12 double-doubles on the year and averaging a double-double to end her senior year with 15.6 points and exactly 10 rebounds a game. Srejma is a work horse that can get the job done inside and out offensively. Capturing a lot of her points off offensive rebounds and put backs Srejma is D2 bound for Minot State... Did I mention that she’s 6’4?
