The Senior class is playing their last June of "summer ball" and headed towards the end of their AAU careers. Many 2023s have earned offers and a few have already committed but lets take a look at some that deserve more college attention.
[player_tooltip player_id="164388" first="Saniyah" last="Shelton"], Bowling Green - Shelton has been a top 10-15 player in the class since for a while but her recruitment hasn’t reflected that as it’s been quiet for her since an offer from Kennesaw State last fall. Shelton can be effective both on and off the ball and has the tools to be a lockdown defender. Bowling Green is still loaded with talent and Shelton could be the breakout star this season.
[player_tooltip player_id="164401" first="Kaela" last="Ballard"], Portland Christian - A bit of a "sleeper" as a big scoring guard, Kaela’s interest thus far has been at the D3 and low NAIA level. There is no reason she shouldn’t be on the radar for good D2 schools. Ballard is an efficient scorer with good size and willing to stick her nose in and do the dirty work as a rebounder on both ends of the court.
[player_tooltip player_id="164417" first="Samari" last="Taylor"], Ballard - One of the best bigs in central Kentucky, Taylor should have plenty of suitors but has only announced and offer from Simmons College at this point in her recruitment. Coming off a banner year in the region, Samari has the size at 6’2 to be an impact player in college. Coaches should seek her out in July as she can be a difference maker.
[player_tooltip player_id="311948" first="Katie" last="Chandler"], Rowan County - Katie is another player who impacts winning and should be on the radar for schools in Kentucky and surrounding states. Sometimes overlooked because of her high profile teammate [player_tooltip player_id="164384" first="Haven" last="Ford"], Chandler is a versatile player who doesn’t take plays off and can create offense for herself and others.
[player_tooltip player_id="312226" first="Reagan" last="Jones"], Knox Central - Jones has a pure jump shot and great size the the guard spot. Standing 5’11, Reagan is capable of guarding multiple positions and has the physical tools to be an above average rebounder on both ends of the court. She has the potential to contribute to winning at the D2/NAIA level relatively early in her college career and is worth a long look this July.
