Shelton is so long and athletic. Her handles were smooth and she could get past her defender with one quick move. Shelton can really put the ball in the basket, but she was facilitating the offense for Bowling Green throughout this tournament. She was handling pressure and setting her teammates up with good looks. Shelton was crashing the boards so well and came up with a ton of rebounds also. Defensively, she was blocking shots and getting steals in all of the games that I saw her play in. In the championship game, she did a great job of running the point, but when her team needed points, she was able to go on a scoring run herself as well.

Shelton instantly grabbed my attention. She’s got great height and length for a point guard. She got to the rim whenever she wanted and when she wasn’t knocking then down, she was drawing fouls and getting to the free throw line. Shelton played with control offensively and was really crashing the boards well. She showed an ability to contribute in every way imaginable.

Shelton averaged 8.6 PPG and 6.4 RPG last season, and I expect her stats to jump the most this season after an extremely successful summer. She is a 3-level scorer with strong handles, and she is also strong defensively.

You better not sleep on Shelton or how much she brings to the floor every time she plays. She uses her length and athleticism so well to constantly get deflections and steals as a defender. She also crashes the boards well and if you don’t locate her (and hold her off), she will come up with the rebound. Shelton has a lot of versatility to her game. Her skills as a floor general are really strong, but she is also effective off of the ball. Shelton can drive and finish tough baskets through contact and I think Bowling Green is going to be a really tough team to beat this season.
