One of the finalists for Miss Kentucky Basketball, Ford has one of the most impressive high school resumes around. She finished the season in the top 50 for four of the five individual statistical categories KHSAA tracks. She was 4th in scoring at 26.1 PPG, 6th in rebounding at 12.5 RPG, 26th for free throw percentage at 79.1%, and tied for 49th in three’s made per game after averaging 2.3 made triples per game. The Murray State commit showed an ability to take over games when her team needed her to, while also being a very unselfish, team-first type of player. Ford has a very bright future ahead of her and should be able to make an instant impact for the Racers next season.

Haven continues to be one of the best players in the state, regardless of class. She’s 4th in the state in scoring at 24 points per game and is leading Rowan in nearly every statistical category. The Murray State signee has been at or near the top of this class for years and Rowan does a great job of promoting her. That stuff matters.

Ford showed why she is one of the top players in the state, much like she’s been doing all season long. She had 3 straight double-doubles as she helped get her team into the Championship game. She is an excellent ball handler, shooter, driver, passer, etc. She can really do a little bit of everything and it is crazy to watch team after team game-plan ways to stop her and yet, she still finds ways to score. Ford is such an impressive all-around player and her stat lines really speak to her complete game. In Game 1, she had 29 points, 17 rebounds, 5 steals, and 4 assists. In Game 2, she had 15 points, 17 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals. In the Championship game, Ford took over in the 2nd half and finished the game with 26 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists, and 4 steals.

Ford is currently top 12 in both scoring and rebounding. She ranks 6th in scoring at 24.9 PPG and 12th in rebounding at 10.7 RPG, so she is averaging an impressive double-double on the season, while facing some really tough competition. Ford is also tied at 29th for 3-point field goals after knocking down 2.3 per game. She’s a very versatile guard. I think what speaks the most to her talent is the fact that she has been able to put up these kind of numbers while often facing double or triple teams.

Ford is one of the top players in the state and she showed why in the Queen of the Commonwealth. In one of the games I saw, her team was struggling to put the ball in the basket and was facing a decent deficit at the half. However, when the 2nd half started, Ford essentially took over the game on her own to help get her team back into the game. She actually played off of the ball as much as she brought the ball down the floor, but I have her in this point guard article because of her court vision and ability to create for her teammates along with her ability to dominate herself.

Ford basically took over the game on her own in the 2nd half after her team struggled in the 1st half. She scored at all 3 levels, no matter what the defense tried. Despite the score, Ford stayed in control and never gave up. She threw some absolute dimes to her teammates after drawing help as well.

Ford has an excellent skillset overall. She can legitimately contribute in any way imaginable whenever she steps on the floor. She’s got excellent ball handling skills, she makes great passes, she’s strong defensively, and she can really put the ball in the basket. Despite being an elite floor general, Ford actually led the Vikings in scoring and rebounding last season (20.4 ppg & 9.7 rpg).

Ford is a special player. She not only has a ton of talent, but she brings so much more to the floor than just that. She truly leads her team in a lot of different ways. Ford’s talent cannot be questioned though. Her averages have been extremely impressive all throughout her high school career. Last season, the Murray State commit averaged 20.9 ppg and 9.7 rpg, while shooting 32.6% from 3 and 82.1% from the free throw line. Ford’s numbers speak for themselves, but they also don’t account for her complete game. She’s an elite ball handler, an elite passer, and she can lock you down defensively. With the way Ford produces, it’s impossible to not include her in the conversation for the 2023 Miss Kentucky Basketball award.
