There are several Freshmen across the State who could could lead their teams in scoring this season. , and Monique Cepeda, University Christian lost some really talented scorers. The lone returning starter from last year’s Final 4 team is Tatum, who made an indelible mark as an 8th grader. Tatum returns as the main player this year. The growth she had over the summer bodes well for Tatum to take the leadership of the team. She will have the ball in her hand the majority of the time and will likely be the team’s first option on offense. That is a formula for scoring points and Tatum will be up for the challenge.
Imani Henderson

Henderson should lead her team in blocked shots and rebounds, and she could likely lead them in the scoring department as well. Henderson might take a few lumps as a Freshman, but she is talented enough to put up double digits in the scoring department.
Audrey Beyer

Beyer winning the scoring title is not even a stretch. The Freshman can outright score the basketball from anywhere on the court. She will definitely be a plus and will help fill the scoring void left by Dylan Hannah and

McLellon is another good young basketball talent who has the potential to lead her team is scoring. Her strongest asset is her speed on the court and that will yield several baskets per game for the Freshman. McLellon plays an in your face defense which could lead to steals and easy fast break points. McLellon can also shoot from the outside and can also get to the rim in an offensive set. As the primary ball handler, she will have plenty of scoring opportunities. She will prove to be a nice compliment to

It is completely possible that Ament could lead her team in scoring this year as a Freshman. The expectations are real for this talented guard who can light up a scoreboard with an offensive game that is way beyond her years. Ament can shoot the long ball and she has a midrange game to compliment her outside game. She has a good feel for the game and knows how to put the ball in the basket. At the Southeast showcase, Ament put on a shooting clinic and had a lot of people, including college coaches talking. In addition to scoring, Ament has a high basketball IQ and she is a very unselfish player who makes good decisions on the court.
These players have the ability to put the ball in the basket. As stated there are a lot of factors that contribute to a Freshman leading a team in scoring. These talented Freshman will all make contributions to their teams, whether they lead the team in scoring or not. We will continue to monitor the output of these players throughout the season.
