is the engine that makes every team she plays on go. A 1,000-point scorer before her junior season, Flynn stuffs the stat sheet with points, rebounds, assists, and steals while serving as the emotional leader on the floor. Her basketball IQ allows her to control the pace of the game, and her willingness to make the extra pass makes everyone around her better. On the defensive end, she competes with tremendous energy and consistently disrupts opposing offenses.
Layla brought a winning mindset to every game this weekend, doing whatever was needed to help her team succeed. Her motor stayed consistent, and her willingness to embrace different roles from game to game made her incredibly valuable. She played unselfish basketball, made the extra pass, and consistently made plays that kept her team flowing. As a leader, her presence was felt, setting the tone with effort and toughness. That same approach is translating to her high school program at Paul Laurence Dunbar, where she’s been a key piece in their rise. With her leadership and team-first mentality, she’s positioning herself as a major factor for a group with big expectations in the 11th Region.
Layla averaged a team-leading 15.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game, spearheading a Dunbar squad to one of its best seasons in recent years. The Lady Bulldogs finished 25–5 on the year, captured the 43rd District title for the first time in five years, and advanced to the 11th Region Championship game, where they suffered a heartbreaking loss. Layla earned All-District Tournament Team honors and was named First Team All-Region as well. She now looks poised for a big travel season with Lexington Crossover
E40 2027.
Layla is a nightmare for ball handlers. She lives in a stance and turns up the heat the second you cross half court! Her pressure speeds teams up, forces bad decisions, and creates chaos. Off the ball, her instincts are elite, jumping passing lanes and turning defense into instant offense!

had a game to remember in a win over Madison Southern, stuffing the stat sheet with 31 points, five assists, seven rebounds, five steals, and a block. The junior guard was nearly flawless from the field, shooting 12-of-13 overall and a perfect 2-of-2 from distance. Flynn continues to lead Dunbar with 16.4 points per game, and the Lady Bulldogs have strung together seven wins in a row.
A top-25 prospect in the class of 2027 and one of the best perimeter defenders in the state, she has emerged as the second-leading scorer for the Lady Bulldogs at 14.5 points per game. Her two-way impact and defensive presence make her one of the top players in the 11th Region.
Layla is a tremendous athlete who’s always in tip top shape and can play the full 32 minutes. She gets good penetration off the dribble, where she either makes a play at the rim or kicks it out open teammates. She’s also very capable of knocking down shots from mid-range and from deep, making her a tough cover on the offensive end. Defensively, Layla is on another level and is one of the best perimeter defenders in her class. She is an absolute menace and her instincts are off the charts. She recorded 212 steals in her sophomore season, placing her 3rd all-time on the KHSAA Single-Season Steals list. Layla also led Dunbar in scoring with 14.8 points per game, shooting an efficient 46.1% from the field. A true two-way player with undeniable college potential.
Tough is one of the words that describe Layla, but unwavering and unbothered another two that summarize her game and mood. In the multiple games I watched of Flynn, she remained the same when it came to dealing with pressure, and was able to get to the rim with only a couple of moves. A for sure player for those scouting in Kentucky to keep an eye on
One of the toughest kids in the gym. Flynn is full of confidence and doesn’t back down at all from any matchup. The handles are there, and she can get where she needs to go and can finish.
Coaches, keep your eyes on this young lady! Flynn is a dangerous guard with a great head on her shoulders. Great job keeping the ball alive, demonstrates patience throughout the game, and she can put the biscuit in the basket! She’s the type of player that can fill the stats in many categories.
