South Bend Washington High School’s Mila Reynolds hasn’t exactly flown under the radar in terms of her recruitment, but from a statewide general public perspective, she probably isn’t as much of a household name as some of these other girls. She plays in Northern Indiana, she plays for a non-Indiana grassroots program, and she has been injured all Spring, but I assure you she is an elite talent in this position group. Her combination of size, strength, skill, and athleticism are nearly unparalleled in Indiana’s 2022 class, and she just has a smooth inside-out game to where she can affect the game in all areas.
Alyssa Crockett of Westfield High School and Diana Burgher of North Harrison High School are a pair of combo forwards who have really worked to develop their perimeter skill over the last year or so. I wouldn’t really call either a power forward, but I also don’t think they are full-fledged wings just yet…they are more of that mid-post to perimeter type of forward right now. With another year of skill development, I do anticipate both becoming big wings with great versatility. Both have begun July with some nice moments in Louisville.
Another player I wouldn’t necessarily sleep on is Meredith Weiss of Vincennes’ Rivet High School. She earned solid Varsity minutes on the Class 1A State Runner-Up team this year, and she’ll look to play a much more vital role this coming season. Meredith is a strong, fairly athletic frontline prospect. She plays with some physicality, but she also has a solid skillset in the mid-post and on the block, and she plays with a really nice motor. I’m not sure how much she will grow, but if she can extend her game nearer the perimeter, I think she’ll see the benefits in terms of her recruitment.
Indianapolis North Central High School’s Remiah Elliott is somewhat overlooked by people because she isn’t a grassroots participant this year. She is a high-major Division-I track star already, so she is dedicating her offseason work to that. On the basketball floor, though, Remiah is a long, athletic, and high-motor forward who can affect the game at both ends of the floor. She saw some Varsity minutes this past year, and she was good in the mid-post and on the boards, plus she was a tremendously versatile defender who took on a variety of opponents.
