With these mega-tournaments dominating the scene, most players will not necessarily get the proper exposure they need from the levels they can actually play at. It’s hit or miss unless their coaches and directors have done a ton of networking ahead of time. Here is part one of my cheat sheet for coaches looking for under the radar players.
Aliyah is a high-level defender with a strong motor whose offensive game is starting to blossom. She can guard any position on the court and still disrupt the other team’s offense. She battles on the boards, especially on offense where she helps her team secure multiple possessions. She can contribute at the next level, especially at a DII or DIII level.
Big Ty has come alive in July, providing excellent interior defense and gobbling up rebounds. She has nice, soft hands and has been finishing well in the paint. She is a legit six footer plus and should pick up her first offers in this crucial second half of July.
Athletic wing/guard that can score in bunches. She is better off the ball but can facilitate if necessary. She is very competitive and plays with an edge. She is going to fit in nicely with the right DII or DIII program.
Tough guard with a college ready body. Her perimeter shot has gotten much better, but the real growth has been in her ability to put the ball on the floor and create. She is able to guard multiple positions and comes in with a high motor every time out.
