Miami Suns GNation 17U Pink continued their stellar play in certified events by taking home the 2024 Championship in the Aqua bracket at the Orlando Splash.
Class of 2024
Sofie Mendez (Miami Country Day / Miami Suns G Nation 17U Pink) 5’7 Guard
Mendez was all around impressive displaying her well balanced offensive skill set. Her best performance was a 23 point, 8 assist, and 9 rebound game to help keep G Nation undefeated. Her stellar play stood out as she was named to the All-Tournament team.
Emily Gamon Emily Gamon 5'7" | CG Doral Academy Preparatory | 2024 State FL (Felix Varela / Miami Suns G Nation 17U Pink) 5’7 Guard
Game has had the hot hand pretty much all spring and summer letting it fly from deep. In Orlando, she had multiple double-digit games including 12 points in the first half to help advance GNation to the championship game.
Peyton Looky Peyton Looky 5'0" | PG Cypress Bay HS | 2024 State FL (Cypress Bay / Miami Suns G Nation 17U Pink) 5’8 Guard
Looky is a long-range bomber who has deep 3 point range, shoots at a high percentage and uses her IQ and court vision to space the floor and promote a well balanced offensive. She hit a big 3 to force overtime vs Exodus out of New York that ultimately led to G Nation moving to 2-0 at the event and remaining undefeated.
Laurie Severe Laurie Severe 5'9" | PF Everglades HS | 2024 State FL (Everglades/ Miami Suns G Nation 17U Pink) 5’10 Forward
Severe is a strong, undersized forward who makes her presence known on the boards and in the paint by being a consistent presence and playing tough and aggressive every possession. She had multiple games hovering around a double double in multiple games.
Class of 2025
Alexie Nicolas Alexie Nicolas 5'5" | CG North Miami Sr | 2025 State FL (North Miami / Miami Suns G Nation 17U Pink) 5’5 Guard
Nicolas is pesky and aggressive on both ends. The 5’5 guard hit double digits multiple times, attacking off the bounce and knocking down open shots from the perimeter. Not just a presence on the offensive end, Nicolas is not afraid to get after it on the defensive end, applying ball pressure and being an aggressive on ball defender.
Maddison Manragh (Western / Miami Suns G Nation 17U Pink) 5’11 Wing
Manragh is a versatile wing who uses her size and strength well vs smaller perimeter players. She crashes the boards from the perimeter consistently and finishes in the paint vs contact at a high percentage after grabbing offensive rebounds for put-backs.
Jada Johnson Jada Johnson 5'9" | SG Miami Country Day School | 2025 State FL (Miami Country Day / Miami Suns G Nation 17U Pink) 5’8 Guard
Johnson was extremely consistent in Orlando, scoring in double digits multiple times including a double double (12 points and 10 rebounds). She helps space the floor with her 3 point range, while also plays unselfish advancing the ball up the court in transition both with the dribble and pass and always willing to make the extra pass.
