Fields has been on a tear not only scoring the basketball during travel ball with her club Essence on the EYBL circuit, but contributing in all facets and phases of the game. She is already a 1,000 point scorer for Buford and has had a very good high school career, but Fields is playing the best basketball of her life right now and she looked like she has unfinished business going into her senior year. She was excellent getting to the rim and powering through opponents when necessary and also elevating over defenders to finish when that was the more intelligent option. Fields was also a nightmare for opposing teams on the offensive glass where she used her elite athleticism to explode off the ground and rip the ball out of the air and her finesse and touch to finish on put back attempts. Mya had one division one offer from Furman a month ago and now holds three in addition as a result of her outstanding stretch of excellent play recently. ETSU was the next to offer Fields followed by the new coaching staffs at both Georgia State and Georgia Southern. Fields scored 110 points in four games averaging 27.5 points per contest with a 30 ball versus a very good Galloway team and 29 points versus Putnam in the first game of the tournament. She will be a steal for someone on the division one level in college.
E’miah, who is a very talented player scoring the ball, spent a lot of the game helping run the offense when sets stalled or the fast break was stopped. She was much more vocal than I have seen her in the past and used her voice to help try and fill the void of Lydia Ledford as well. Fields was still able to put the ball in the basket with relative ease in the two games that I saw Buford play. She is a physically gifted player who has a strong upper body while also being very. quick with and without the ball. She scored from the midrange and in the paint several times using skill and finesse at times and brute strength at others. Fields shot the ball well from behind the three point line and when she got to the charity stripe. Her leadership and passing ability were two parts of her game I thought stood out. E’miah recently received scholarship offers from Georgia State and ETSU.
E’Miah Fields impacts the game with a smooth, controlled presence and an unselfish approach that elevates those around her. She attacks the rim with confidence, finishing with poise and a soft left handed touch. Fields has the ability to score with either hand on the break — a skill that makes her especially tough to defend in transition and in traffic. From the guard position, she rebounds well, showing instincts and effort on the glass, then quickly turns those possessions into opportunities by pushing the pace. Her court vision stands out, consistently making good reads and delivering the ball selflessly to teammates in scoring position. Offensively, she has a silky smooth left-handed jumper, giving her versatility on the offensive side of the ball. Fields overall game flows with purpose — efficient, composed, and impactful on multiple levels.
Fields had a very strong performance for Buford impacting the game on both ends of the floor finishing with a double-double. Fields did a good job getting downhill and attacking the basket on offense. Fields also showed the ability to knockdown the midrange jumper. She was very active on the offensive boards getting multiple rebounds and either converted putback layups or got fouled and went to the line. Fields played as hard as anyone on the court. She dove on the ground for loose balls on several occasions.
Lefty with a non-stop motor and inside-out scoring skill. Fields is relentless on the offensive glass and a confident mid-range shooter. Extending her range will be the next step. Hustler on defense. D-I offers should be around the corner.
E’miah was a force getting to the rim all game long. She secures the rock like a running back in that left hand and finished very well. She can shoot from the outside, get downhill with strength, and use those crafty lefty finishes to get buckets. Really like her energy and activity on the defensive end as well.
