We’re going to give you a list of these skills with a couple players in the class of 2024 that exemplify those traits.
ATHLETE
Wells is just so physically gifted. There not be a more silky smooth player in the state of Michigan. She glides down the floor and makes movements look almost effortless. Wells can slide into a change of direction and leave her defender grasping.
Hardy is a truly special talent and a must see player. It’s not just her height and length that makes her so good. It’s the fact that she combines those with the ability to run the floor and finish with fluidity.
Highlights
BASKETBALL IQ
Davis is ranked nationally for a reason. A huge part of her game is between the ears. Summer Davis Summer Davis 5’9″ | PG West Bloomfield | 2024 State MI has a feel for the game and a feel for the action that can’t be taught. She has a natural knack for knowing exactly what her team needs from her at any given moment.
Zeinstra is one of the most mentally strong players in Michigan. She’s known as a shooter, but part of what makes her so great at that is knowing when and where her shot is needed. Zeinstra does a terrific job at keeping mental mistakes to a bare minimum.
BALL HANDLER
Bonner is one of the flashiest ball handlers I’ve seen in the midwest. She can make the ball disappear for the defender and put them on her hip in a heartbeat. Bonner is a walking and talking highlight reel with the ball.
Highlights
Roberts showed off her ability to handle the rock at the Top 250 this year. She kept the ball close and protected and didn’t turn it over. Roberts has shown that she can utilize dribble combos to create space and looks.
REBOUNDER
Swanson is better than one of the best rebounders in the state. When you look up the definition of a rebound in basketball, it may have her picture next to it. Can anyone recall the last time Swanson didn’t have double digit rebounds in a game.
Bisballe is a terrific all around player that has the ability to dominate the glass. She doesn’t wait for the ball to come off the rim, but instead rebounds the ball high. Bisballe has strong hands when securing the board.
PERIMETER DEFENDER
Davis does a ton of things at an elite level, including defending the perimeter. She takes pride in her lockdown defense and can shut down very high level scorers. Davis can pick up at half court and force bad decisions from her opponent.
Marshall is a menace on the defensive end. She can defend from baseline to baseline, causing chaos up and down the floor. Marshall can play a very aggressive style of defense, and in fact, is probably at her best when doing so.
RIM PROTECTION
Nobody wants to drive the lane and see Kayla Mount Kayla Mount 6’1″ | C Detroit Cass Tech | 2024 State MI in their way at the rim. It’s nearly impossible to finish through her because of her power and physicality. Coaches will have to game plan around her rim protection.
Bisballe is an outstanding defender and rim protector. Her ease of movement in the paint helps make her a top notch help defender. Bisballe plays excellent vertical defense and simply blocks a tremendous amount of shots.
