Reed has one of the those old-school stat lines where it’s obvious where she does her damage–in the paint. Currently averaging 16 points a game on 52% from the field, she’s risen past last year’s numbers (last year she averaged 16 points on 47% shooting) often fighting through doubles or digs. Only shot 12 threes all year, but still finds multiple ways to help her team–proven by the fact she shot 92 FTs on 67%. Reed has only made two 3 pointers this year, but her free throw numbers are still high level. Reed still has some room to growing if she can get out into the midrange, and college coaches are noticing.
The 6’0 post has turned into a bona-fide shooter this season!! She’s averaging 1.5 made threes a game on 36% shooting, which has changed her game. She averaging 18 points per game for Houston.
Linx might be the best shooter in the state right now! Coming off a big season last year, she’s averaging 3.7 made three’s a game this season on 40% shooting. Those numbers change the dimensions on the floor for your team. Overall, Linx is averaging right at 18 points per game.
Terry has made a tremendous jump as a scorer for Fayette-Ware. Last season, she averaged right at 6 points per game. This season, the coaching staff has run the offense through Terry, and she’s more than exceeded hopes! She’s averaging a smooth 22 points per game on nice efficiency numbers.
The senior has taken her game to another level for Grundy County averaging almost 18 points per game. She’s been given the ball, and asked to be the primary playmaker and ball handler, and she’s risen to the occasion. A smooth operator with the basketball, she makes Grundy County go.
Poole has that type of game that’s fun to watch because you know what’s coming, but you just can’t stop it. Poole is an elite finisher around the rim, shooting 50% averaging 15.6pts while only hitting 13 3s all year. That means Ds knows Poole is going to the rim, but stopping it is another matter. I actually believe Poole has what it takes to be a 3pt shooter–hitting 84FTs on 83% shooting. So her form is great! Poole has one of the high ceilings in this ’24 class.
I wanted to include the FGCU signee just to compare. Flowers plays on a loaded team, and only averages 11.8 pts on 50% shooting. She only shot 16% from 3pt last year, so her game is pretty simple–setup your teammates and hit open jumpers when they find you. She hit 57 FTs last year which is ok, but not a great number. Her primary role was to knock down open jumper or attack a gap. Nothing complicated or star studded. And she’ll be playing D1 in the Fall. Not everyone’s basketball stories look the same!
I really like Allen’s potential. Averaged 13.6 last season, and knocked down 56 3’s on 32%. If she can get that number closer to 40%, all of a sudden Allen is averaging 16 points. She hit 67 FTs at 77% so the touch is there. She could have a breakout.
Highlights
Hurst’s stat line jumped out at me! 12.4 pts per game on 51%. So she’s an old-school banger. Only hit 8 3’s, so that’s obviously not part of her game. And then I saw she hit 93 FTs! For an old school post to hit 93 FTs she’s gifted drawing contact. And, she only hit 62% of her FTs. She raises that number up and she can easily be averaging 14-15 next year.
