PGHCalifornia Top 25 High School Rankings

Here are the Top 25 Schools Ranked by PGHCali and it is very interesting to see how these teams will fair this season coming, expect to see some upsets in this years contest, we will change the ranking for teams by schedule weight and opponents played against every two weeks.     #1: Etiwanda HS (32-3) CIFSS Open Division Finalist 2023; Open Division Regional Champions & Open Division State Champion 2023; #3 in the SBLive National Rankings   Etiwanda did a great job this last season garnering some of the best performances we have seen in a while, they beat the #1 team in Sierra Canyon in the State Regional final to go on an defeat Archbishop Mitty in the State Finals and capture their first Open Division State Championship. They are a young group that is very seasoned and Coach Stan Delus has done a great job with these kids, developing them and making them tough and ready to handle what is around the corner next. This is a defensive minded team that can also put up some numbers on you and they do it in a hurry and keep you off base with their defensive intensity. They have battled with Etiwanda and other Top teams in the State, but the relationship between Sierra Canyon and Etiwanda has been monumental over the past few years starting in 2018. Both of these teams get athletes knocking down their doors to come and play, they both travel the country playing very competitive schedules and it is for good reason. These teams will continue to battle it out in the State Open Division every year, it is just how it suppose to go. The most recent stars to come out of that program was Breya Cunningham and Jada Williams, both of those athletes are now debuting at University of Arizona this coming season and we believe they both will contribute to the success of their team this year. This group is well-coached by long tenured Head Girls Basketball Coach Terri Bamford and she is one of the most respected and most knowledgeable and has been winning games for years. The Archbishop Mitty Monarchs girls' basketball team is renowned for its competitive performances at both the state and national levels. They are always a force to deal with in the girls basketball arena and will continue to be as long as the kids are lined up to go there to get a chance to be apart of a CIF State Championship team. They have a kid right now that will make that journey if she continues to work hard and be the best she possibly can be and that athletes name is Addision Deal, she is gonna be special and remember folks, I told you that name when she was a 7th grader. Mater Dei is always in contention with a CIFSS Championship or a State Championhsip and they play a good schedule that keeps them in the National Top 25 rankings, enough said.. They have won Championships in Division 3, 4 and now Division 1, which they seemed to always be a D1 school in our opinion. They are doing well and are primed to appear in a title game again this year, lets just wait and see. This was win 425 for Coach Craig Campbell making him the winningest Coach in Central Section History.  This team bring in talent and develops them into elite teams and they will continue to do this year after year for more time to come. They will also appear in a title game this year in Sectional and State, expect it. These kids will definitely appear in another title game this coming year, I promise that as well.     #9: Folsom HS; (26-3) Overall; 10-0 in Sierra Foothill League, CIF San Joaquin Division I Champiuons 2023; State Open Division Round 1 2023   Folsom did a great job this past season wining the SJS Division I championship and they did by defeating a very good St. Marys of Stockton team who have a cast of stars playing their as well. Folsom controlled th game for the first 3 periods, but St. Marys would make a game of it in the end and Folsom would pull off the win with a score of 58-53 to capture the title. These girls play hard as well and handle their business on the floor, you see the returner for next season, they are loaded. They host a great tournament in the MLK Classic each year that brings some of the basketball elite to the venue to play and see where they stand in the arena. St. Marys has a few high D1 prospects on their roster and they are always in contention of winning a championship and finishing in the top portion of their league. They lost to Mater Dei their last game, but they played hard and made Mater Dei put them away, they have been on their game for the past 3 to 4 serasons. Some teams have even said they would not want to play them in the near future as they become more seasoned and experienced at the game, expect them to make some waves this season in the Playoffs. They are coming off a Big VIII League championship and a CIF Division I Finalist loss to Oakland Tech. They have developed their girls into a championship caliber team and they are not gonna do anything short of repeating as the Big VIII champion and go even deeper this year in the playoffs. I have watched these girls for some time and they are tough and skilled, it is their time. This team is devising a way to get back to the playoffs and championships, they are a little short staffed and hope this season that they add some more depth to the team that will allow them to go deeper into the playoffs.
