The MVP Of The Week is an individual that displayed what it means to put on a major performance/s for their perspective squad throughout the week. Someone who came out firing on all cylinders and dominated in more ways than one on the hardwood while putting up an eye-opening stat line.
The Players Of The Week are other individuals that were in consideration for the MVP of the week but fell just short in the end when taking into consideration all outlying factors.
Thanks for tuning in and enjoy!

- 1/9/24 @ Mount Vernon – 15 Points (5-10), 1 Rebound, 2 Assists, 1 Steal, 1 TO
The best teams have deep rosters and experienced players from start to finish. When someone or multiple players are having off-games, others need to step up and someone that has consistently stepped up off the CCA Clippers bench is Shooting Guard, Lena Evans. In her Clippers team highly anticipated matchup against Mount Vernon on Tuesday, Evans hit 5 three’s to help lead her team to victory. At the end of the game, CCA skated away with a 3 point win on the road because of a go-ahead three pointer by Evans in the final seconds. This capped off a memorable game for Evans and for this team as a whole. The season can be a long journey and moments like these, matter. Contest like this demonstrate that this group can win close games and it’s not always because of their starters.

- 1/9/24 vs Louisa-Muscatine – 15 Points (6-13), 12 Rebounds, 1 Rebound, 1 Assist, 1 Block
Winfield-Mt Union hasn’t started this season off the way they would have liked but they have had some positive moments to build on moving forward. One of their most recent positive moments comes in the form of a 4 point victory on Tuesday night again Louisa-Muscatine High School. In this contest, one of their most promising starters was the difference maker and that was Madisen Kellogg Madisen Kellogg 5’9″ | SG Winfield-Mt Union | 2026 IA . Kellogg registered 15 of her teams 41 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, dished out 1 assist, created 1 turnover, and had 1 block. I would best described Kellogg as a 2, 3, or 4 guard for this team. She has the athletic ability and strength to produce every single night and that’s what she has been doing. She has been showing off her high energy play-style whenever she can and it has been refreshing to see. I haven’t had the chance to watch this team play in person yet this season but I’m sure they are going to continue to learn from their mistakes, making the most of their opportunities moving forward.
Kylie Hoffman
Kylie Hoffman
- 1/11/24 @ South O’Brien – 21 Points (7/11), 2 Rebounds, 3 Assists, 3 Steals, 4 TO’s
Emmetsburg High School has put together a nice season throughout their first 14 games and I could see that continuing into the future. The E-Hawks are 9-5 and putting up some productive numbers across the board. Their roster starts 1 Senior and 4 Sophomores. One of their most promising young talents being Kylie Hoffman at the Guard position. Hoffman seems to play the shooting guard role and she understands her job to a T. Whenever she is on the perimeter, she is ready to let it fly. Doesn’t matter if she is standing alone with all the time in the world or if she is highly covered. Hoffman knows what she does best and she doesn’t try to veer away from that too often. This past week, the E-Hawks won another contest and Hoffman put up respectable numbers to lead her team. She ended with 21 Points (7-11), 2 Rebounds, 3 Assists, and 3 Steals. In the end, the E-Hawks won this game convincingly because of everyone’s efforts throughout. Like I mentioned above, they have put together a solid season to start this winter but I’m sure they won’t be satisfied.

- 1/11/24 @ Newman Catholic – 23 Points (9-11), 14 Rebounds, 2 Assists, 3 Steals, 1 Block, 3 TO’s
Over the past three weeks, we have covered Graclyn Eastman Graclyn Eastman 6’0″ | SF Bishop Garrigan | 2027 State IA three separate times now because of her outstanding play. In an article that highlights the best player performances of the week, it would be tough not to add someone who scored 23 points on 9-11 shooting and grabbed 14 rebounds in her teams 20+ point win on Thursday. Eastman’s length and coordination is no joke. She is already talented in several different aspects of the game and those abilities are only going to grow. In this specific show-down, Newman Catholic had no matchup for Eastman. She was the X factor because no one could stop her combination of size and fundamental play. I’m looking toward the Playoffs that are upcoming and I’m hoping to see Bishop Garrigan make the State Tournament for another straight year. They have different personal than seasons prior but that shouldn’t be an issue. They have seemed to reload and are very good once again. If they just worry about going 1-0 each contest moving forward, they are going to like how the rest of their season plays out.
