I have always enjoyed watching Martinez at her best. She has missed time due to injury over the past year, but is a winning player when she’s fully healthy. Martinez is a player who will crash the glass and help her team win extra possessions by doing all the little things. She flies after loose balls and can compete on the glass on both ends of the floor. There could be coaches who are surprised by what she brings.

I always appreciate players who fly around the floor and play hard, and that’s what Martinez is. She is a player who will generate extra possessions simply by being herself on the floor. She is also willing to crash the glass on both ends of the floor, and over the course of a season, she will win games by doing that. Even if she doesn’t score, she can impact winning, which is something I love in a player.

The Wisconsin Lutheran wing didn’t play much in her first high school season, and even though she rarely saw the floor, she’s one of my favorite kids to watch in her class. The 5’10 Viking plays like her hair’s on fire and does an excellent job rebounding for her position. Martinez compliments her teammates’ games by doing all the dirty work rebounding, flying all over the place for loose balls, and being a kid who moves the ball with a purpose. Her selflessness will help her earn minutes at the high school level in the coming years, and even if coaches don’t have her on their radar now, her name will eventually pop up around offices, and she’ll find a place to play at the next level if she wants to continue her basketball career.
