Layla’s athleticism, speed, and ability to handle the ball in pressure situations stands out. She does a solid job of finding seams to the basket and getting to the line- Claxton was 5-8 from the line today. She finished with 10 points, 5 boards, and 2 steals. (Below with ball)

Layla will be counted on for a solid season as her role is expected to increase this season. Being around an atmosphere who has won four consecutive state titles will rub off and look for a bolster in her game. Layla can hurt you inside or out, proving her perimeter game last season and puts forth a big effort. Solid rim protector.

I liked what I saw from Layla against Boyd County. She outworked everyone on the glass, pulling down several key rebounds throughout the game. Layla was in rhythm on the offensive end, burying multiple threes and showing a lot of confidence in her outside shot.

Purcell Marian’s Layla Claxton was one of my favorites for Team 1. She was aggressive on offense and was at her best when she attacked off the dribble. Layla either scored through contact or got sent to the free throw line, where she converted more times than not. I also liked her ability to finish at the rim and the way she made herself available to score in transition.

Smooth perimeter shot, great wingspan able to deflect passes. Does a great job finishing in transition. She plays for a program who knows how to win. Athletic and agile, good on-ball defender with good length.
