Expert Analysis
Akeem Webb | Prep Girls Hoops Scout
Nakiah has transferred and taken her talents to Ohio powerhouse Purcell Marian. She showed great feel for the game with a smart read and a tough scoop layup, then got to the line and converted. Moments later, she hustled back on defense to come up with an impressive block. She also made good use of a hesi dribble and drove the ball hard to draw another foul, then followed it up with a nice pass to a cutter for an easy bucket, then hit a clean jumper. Nakiah continues to prove she can make plays on both ends of the floor.

Nakiah is a talented scoring guard who can play on or off the ball. She plays with a great motor and has a little mean streak to her game. She’s not afraid of a little physicality. If Mejia can improve her shooting from range, she will likely have scholarship level schools from all over the Midwest coming to evaluate her. There is a big spring and summer coming up for the Scott star.

Midwest Takeover 2027 vs Run As One–Hoopsters
I liked what I saw from Nakiah against Run As One. She was active on the glass, pulling down a couple rebounds, and didn’t hesitate to get on the floor for loose balls. She exceled in transition, and showed she can absorb contact and still finish at the rim. Nakiah sacrificed her body attempting to take a charge, then came down on the next possession and drilled a 3-pointer.

Last season, the 2023-24 version of Scott had a number of underclassmen as part of its roster. Mejia stood out amongst that assembling of youngsters. She averaged 9.4 points per season for an Eagles team that concluded the season with a 17-12 record – an impressive showing for a team with plenty of underclassmen. Mejia thrives at the one in the backcourt. She combines rim attacking abilities with speed and has no problems drawing contact to get to the free throw line. Mejia will begin her freshman season at Scott following a stint during the spring and summer with Midwest Takeover.

Nakiah impressed me enough that I text a good friend of mine who coaches in the 10th region and told him to remember Mejia’s name as I think she’ll be a factor in the 10th for the next 4 years. Mejia didn’t blow me away with any one particular thing but she played hard all day long and competes on both ends of the court.

Probably my favorite player in the showcase, Nakiah was in attack mode all day on offense and plays defense with a mean streak. Mejia is quick but also able to pull up and score in the midrange instead of forcing threes or layups. Scott has a really good player in Mejia.

Nakiah has good size at the guard position and the skill to go along with it. Nakiah was on target from long distance, did a fantastic job putting teammates in position to score, and seemed to score at will off the dribble. She has a great all-around game and is only going to get better!

is next up out of Northern Kentucky. She played at a high level at the Clash last weekend, and liked the well-rounded competition and level of sportsmanship in the 2028 division but also enjoyed the challenge and level of competition playing up for

in the 2026 division. Nakiah made a great impact on both ends of the floor. On offense she had strong drives to the basket and finished through contact, she also shot it very well from the perimeter, and made sure to get others involved. On defense she did a fantastic job making hustle plays, and disrupting the flow of the offense by forcing turnovers, and coming up with steals.
