Alexander came up big in a semifinal rivalry game. The junior guard led the way offensively with 18 points. In a 42-32 win, every one of those buckets was huge. Alexander is playing her best basketball at the perfect time as she’s continued to show steady improvement all season. With Alexander playing that way, Hartland will be an even tougher team do send home.
Meredith isn’t a name that any of us are shocked to see here. She’s a big game player that coaches and fans can count on when the pressure rises. Meredith controlled the action in many phases of the game in a 59-38 win against Lansing Christian. She finished with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 steals. We should mention her teammate Gracelyn Rockey as well. Rockey was the game high scorer with 23 and also added 4 steals. With 8 steals between the 2 of them, it’s easy to say that defense ruled the day.
I highlighted this game between rivals Canton and Salem as one to watch yesterday. Canton stepped up big time and Berlin was a big reason why. She’s easily one of the most talented freshman post players in the state and her dominance in in the paint was very evident last night. Berlin finished with 13 points, 6 rebounds and an eye opening defensive performance.

Dakota picked up a very good semifinal victory against Port Huron Northern. Andrews was terrific on both ends of the floor last night. Let’s start with her perimeter defense. She was able to pressure ball handlers and anticipate the action, leading her to racking up 7 swipes. Offensively, Andrews was her usual self combining quickness, handles and shooting on her way to 22 total points.
Mio defeated Posen by a score of 63-43 and will play in the district championship game later this week. McGregor has proven to be an elite freshman in Michigan and a thrilling watch on the offensive end of the floor. Last night she scored a jaw dropping 48 points, with 33 of them coming from behind the arc. It will be interesting to see how far the young superstar can take her team.
