SS16 Shootout: 2025s Stepping Up Pt 2

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Saturday, June 8th kicked off summer Varsity season with a bang as many talented teams competed at Belleville High School for a full day of basketball. Prospects have been competing on the travel circuit all spring and today gave us a glimpse into how the high school scene will look this winter. Iyana competes with passion and is a fierce rim protector in the paint. She walled up to block a shot on a drive and ferociously swatted many layup attempts out of bounds all day. Iyana has a high motor and outworked her opponents for offensive boards and scored put backs in the paint off two feet. She extended her shooting range outside and buried a corner 3. Tracy used a low rip sweep move to beat her defender on a baseline drive, landed on two feet, and then scored off the glass. She showed her efficiency as a 3-point shooter, knocking down multiple triples. Payton has developed her game to attack downhill using combination dribbles and she scored a contested floater off the glass. Payton scored off two feet in the paint and blocked a shot on defense. Emmalea has a great face-up game to drive by forwards on offense. She beat her defender off the dribble to score a contested left layup off the glass and did so again to score a contested floater. Emmalea works hard defensively and secures rebounds. She passes well out of the high post and is a forward who stood out for the Chemics last winter. Leilah handled the ball today bringing it up the floor for Salem and also excelled in the high post. she scored multiple times off two feet using excellent spin dribble drop step moves on her drives. Leilah defends well in the low post and uses her length to cause misses and seal her defender on offense.
